Cream Soup Base

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This was just what I was looking for. It's very versatile. I made a cream of vegetable soup for the first try and am looking forward to trying the many variations this base allows. Thanks so much!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This was so good. I used bleu cheese dressing instead of ranch (because it goes with wings!) and I melted the ingredients together in a saucepan before transferring to a plastic contrainer to transport to work for a potluck. It heated up quick and turned out great. For my own use for the future, I will probably use extra hot sauce and throw in some bleu cheese crumbles. Thanks for the recipe.

Barbeque Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
After reading other reviews, I altered the amounts just a bit. I used about half the vinegar and a little less worchestire. I also used spicy brown mustard because I didn't have any powder. I added a little onion powder, minced garlic and hot sauce. Everyone loved it.

Gary's Turkey Burritos

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
Like others, I couldn't find the tomato sauce. What I did instead was spice up the turkey meat with chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne, cilantro, and crushed red peppers. I added some hot sauce to the regular tomato sauce as well. I put cheese on top and melted it for a bit in the oven. Yummy!

Bacon Mushroom Swiss Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This turned out excellent. I used 1 pound of ground beef and 1/2 pound of ground pork because my grocer had it already pre-weighed for meatloaf. I used some extra cheese and portabello mushrooms instead of white and extra of those as well. I used the food processor to combine the onion, bacon, and mushrooms raw and then fried the contents in a frying pan before adding to the meat mixture. I also used the food processor on the swiss cheese, which gave nice chunks instead of shredded cheese that can get lost in a dish like this. I used slices of swiss on the top as well as a few pieces of whole bacon on top of that. I broiled the last few minutes of cooking time to crisp the bacon and it turned out perfect. Extra ingredients equaled extra flavor and the presentation couldn't be beat. Huge hit! Will make again :)

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This was very easy and a nice quick and hearty meal. My husband did comment on the consistency of the meat patties, as some of them fell apart in the slow cooker. I'm not sure what can be done to bind them better, but I will investigate for next time.

Kielbasa Pasta Casserole

This recipe was really good. I'm not a big fan of tomato chunks so I did omit the stewed tomatoes as well as add extra cheese and flaked parm on top. Yum!

Country Rib Delight

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
First of all, I used this with a pork tenderloin that I cut in pieces because that's what was on sale at the grocery store. For the sauce, like others, I added some hot sauce and substituted the ketchup for bottled chili sauce. The sweet and spicy combo was a hit and I thinkt he chili sauce added the "something extra" that other reviewers were lacking. Very pleased.

Overnight Apple Cinnamon French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
This was SO good! I scaled down the recipe and actually made it for dinner one night. I used no sugar added apple pie filling as well as sugar free maple syrup and it turned out really yummy. It's been requested again since.

Amish Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
This turned out pretty well and was very hearty. I only had elbow noodles, so I used those, but everything else was the same. It was a little on the sweet side for my taste, so I think next time I will decrease the brown sugar. Other than that, great!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
This was so good! It seemed that I used a little extra bread once I had actually cut it up, so I used an extra egg and a splash of milk. I also put some apples on the bottom for something extra. It smelled fantastic cooking, and the whole house smelled like warm and cozy breakfast (even though I made it for dinner)! The top was a little crunchy, but the flavor was so good that I didn't mind much.

Apple Pork Chop Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
My husband and I thought this turned out really well. Instead of leavin the pork chops whole, I cut them into smaller pieces but followed the same directions. I spiced them up a little bit, but the rest of the recipe was the same. I was afraid the stuffing would be really soggy, but it was a good consistency considering it was at the bottom of a casserole. Apples and golden raisins were a good mix. Thanks for the recipe.

BBQ Cola Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
Like some other reviewers, I found myself using frozen meatballs simply to save on time during a busy work week. I followed the other directions with the addition of some shallots in the sauce. I will admit that during cooking, it had a very strong vinegar aroma, so I wasn't sure I would like it. But the taste was good, so overall a good recipe.

Anne's Hot Ham and Swiss Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This was a hit at my work pot luck. It was gone almost immediately and everyone asked for the recipe. I did a few extras from the recipe. Instead of cream of mushroom, I used cream of chicken with herbs. I also added a little garlic powder and 5 slices of muenster cheese. Served with rye and butter crackers. Great recipe!

Brunch Enchiladas

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
This recipe was good. It was a little deceiving however, because it appears like there will be way too much liquid based on the recipe. It does cook way down, so use it all. I agree with other reviewers that the recipe itself can be a little bland, and next time I think I will definitely spice it up a bit more. It was a great idea though.

Corn Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I followed the recipe fairly close and even added some extra mayo and sour cream, but the noodles in the casserole never cooked all the way. The top half of the casserole was hard and strange. The flavor was good, so I think next time I will precook the noodles a little before putting it in the oven.

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
This was a nice change from traditional enchiladas with red sauce, though I will admit that those are my favorite. When I grow tired of the same recipes a few times in a row, it's nice to throw in something a little different like this.

Cheesy Brat Stew for the Slow Cooker

I will admit like some other reviewers that I varied from the recipe. I added plenty of extra ingredients and made it my own. I am quite thankful for the general idea though and that it gave me a base to be creative.

Awesome Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
We really enjoyed this marinade and are constantly looking for new ways to enjoy steak. My only change for next time would be to use slightly less steak sauce, as we felt it somewhat overpowered the other flavors. With a small modification, this would be fantastic.
