I like to try cooking new and unusual-sounding things, and I usually make too much food for only two people to eat.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, stews and other crock-pot meals. My go-to quick and easy dinner is either alfredo sauce or fried rice. I like good old American comfort foods as well as many ethnic cuisines, such as Indian, Thai, and Middle Eastern. I also enjoy baking (and eating) sweet things, but my kitchen is small and poorly-equipped for complicated desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Using whole, fresh ingredients. Going overboard on dessert.
My cooking triumphs
Tandoori game hens (in the regular oven), vegetable tempura, egg rolls, cream puffs, rice pudding, ratatouille.
My cooking tragedies
A terrible Carbonara, some flavorless donuts (bad recipe!), crockpot roast chicken, potato & cheese pierogies, and whatever I was making when the cumin seeds ended up on the ceiling.
