My favorite family cooking traditions
My great-grandmother always used to make german pancakes (dutch babies). So I passed the memories along to my own children and extended family by making these.
My cooking triumphs
I would say baking. I am not a recipe follower...I like to create recipes. Baking has become much easier and I still find a way to alter the recipes to fit my liking.

Plain Cake Doughnuts
Oh my! These were super quick and SO delicious! I just rolled them in cinnamon/sugar after frying. Next time I will get more creative with frostings...maybe a chocolate genache or something!

Snickerdoodles I
Perfect recipe! I always make cookies with butter and they NEVER turn out....but these were absolutely perfect.

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins
I altered the recipe to what I had on hand and to make it even healthier. 1 egg, 1/4 cup flax meal + 2 tbls water, 1/4 cup applesauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup non-fat sour cream, 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt,1/2 cup oatmeal and a dash of nutmeg as well. I also used frozen mixed berries instead of strawberries. These were delicious with the changes we made, although I am sure they would be great without the changes.
