Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2009
This was great! I used vidalia onions and sauteed them before adding them to the potatoes. I doubled the recipe and cooked for 2 hours. I took the foil off for the last 30 minutes. Turned out great!

My husband and I did not like this at all. It is somewhat bitter and watery.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Great, great, great! I made these two days ago for my husband and me and they are already gone. That's all we ate for dinner last night! I followed the recipe exactly only I removed them from the oven after 15 minutes. I am making a double batch today to freeze.

Quick Fudge Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
This was fantastic! You HAVE to cook the ingredients on low until the sugar is completely dissolved and the shortening is melted BEFORE you bring it to a boil. I cooked it on low for about 10 minutes then boiled for 2 minutes. Then take it off heat and keep beating it while it cools. I beat it by hand for a minute then let it cool for a couple more then beat it again and so on until it was really thick and creamy. It's best not to use it until it's nearly completely cooled. My husband LOVED it. He said it reminded him of the chocolate icing on bakery donuts.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
Very good. It did have a slight grainy texture but my husband actually liked that. Regardless, I will definitely make this again. I may cream it a little longer next time.

Mini Ham And Cheese Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
Great recipe! Either I didn't use enough of the topping or the recipe makes way too much! I used ham and turkey and baby swiss on dinner rolls from a bakery. I followed other reviewer's suggestions and cut the rolls together then cut them apart after baking. They were much better than I had hoped they would be. Definitely a keeper!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! I had really ripe fruit so I didn't add any sugar at all. I also couldn't get Golden Delicious apples so I used Galas. I also left out the raspberries because they are so expensive and I don't really care for them anyway. No one missed them at all! It was fantastic. I also used a little lime juice on the apples to keep them from browning. I used strawberry preserves. The chips were so good that people were eating them with this and with a chocolate chip cheese ball I made.

These were good. I didn't care for the swiss cheese though. I may try to make them with a different type of cheese next time.

Frosted Grapes

Suprisingly good. Easy enough to make. I probably wouldn't serve these at a baby shower or anything just because they were kind of messy and did not look as pretty as I thought they would. The taste was good though!

Bar-B-Que Sauce

Really good. This was exactly what I was looking for because I usually have these ingredients on hand. I did not have any worcestshire sauce so I subsititued an equal amount of A1 for it. Very good recipe!

Baby BLT

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
The flavor was good but the mayo made them pretty oily. I cut my tomatoes lengthwise and I think it worked a little better. I agree with another reviewer that cream cheese instead of mayo would probably be better.

This went over very well at a baby shower. I could not find the cheese it called for so I used chive cream cheese instead.

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This is the same recipe I've used for years. There is no chance for dry sausage balls with this recipe because the mixture is just right. You will definitely need to increase the cooking time to about 20 minutes though.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
This was a HUGE hit at a baby shower! Based on other reviewer's suggestions, I increased the powdered sugar from 3/4 to 1 cup and decreased the butter from 1 stick to 3/4 stick. I actually quadrupled this recipe and it turned out great! I omitted the pecans because I was serving to a crowd and didn't know if all liked pecans. I let sit overnight wrapped in cling wrap and did not coat in anything when I served it. It didn't need to be coated in anything because all the chips inside made a very pretty presentation. I served on a platter with chocolate grahams surrounding it. Definitely will make this a regular "go to" recipe!

This was just ok. You definetly have to remove the crusts before putting in the oven or they will burn.

Jet Swirl Pizza Appetizers

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
This was really great. I took the advice of microwaving the pepperoni to eliminate some of the grease and that worked very well. I also added some crumbled sausage to the recipe and added fennel and basil before rolling up. I cooked two of these on a single cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray for 50 minutes at 350 on the middle rack-seam side down. One thing I highly recommend is brushing the tops with an egg white wash to acheive a shiny surface, otherwise the top looks dull and dusty. I also let these rest for 20 minutes before I cut them. I used a bread knife for ease of cutting. These were really good and I will serve these with pizza sauce although I don't think they really need it.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
This was so easy to make and tastes sooo good! It tastes very similar to those sugar cookies you can buy at the Walmart bakery with the thick creamy frosting and sprinkles on top. This worked very well for frosting with a spatula and for piping through a bag.
