About this Cook
Typical girl. I like shopping, hanging out with friends, movies, music, linguistics, and, of course, cooking! I love trying new food and learning about different cultures!
My favorite things to cook
I'm Asian, so I make a lot of Asian food, however, anything that looks pretty or delicious, I will attempt to make!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Vietnamese food - spring rolls, summer rolls, Pho, seafood noodle soup (Mi Do Bien), Vietnamese subs. Thanksgiving food - Sausage and Cranberry stuffing, sweet potato pie, APPLE PIE WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM!!!!, mashed potatos, etc. Christmas - cookies!, baked ham, spinach salad, pound cake, etc..... This list could go on and on and on.......
My cooking triumphs
I can make some really good fried rice and I've aced the category of cookies and some cakes. Broiled pork chops with caramelized apples. Oven Mac and Cheese. French onion soup (without the wine). French/Vietnamese Style Beef Stew. Stir-fry veggies.
My cooking tragedies
Hawaiian Chicken stew. I got the recipe from allrecipes, but as I was breaking the brown sugar chunk, a giant piece fell from the bag and into the pot. Also put in too much cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger (to make up for not having allspice.) No amount of water or salt really saved it. Though it was edible, it tasted like Gingerbread cookie soup with chicken, potatoes and carrots. It was weird. Serves me right for being hungry and impatient!

Moonbeams
Pretty good. I reduced the honey to about 1/4 cup and rolled the balls in more dry milk powder. Everyone loved these! =)

Chocolate Mice
Mice came out cute, but it was extremely sugary sweet. Added 2 cups of rice cereal, dry milk powder and a pinch of salt. It was still too sweet. Will not be making this again.

Jo's Rosemary Bread
Not exactly like Mac Grill bread, but extremely close and very good. If you are making this by hand, be sure to proof the yeast before adding in the other ingredients.
