Farm raised, country girl living off the farm now. Cooked/baked a lot while growing up, not so much since until now. My best friend is Royce (name changed to protect the guilty); she's on here somewhere :) We like to send each other recipes from this site.
My favorite things to cook
My youngest sister told me about allrecipes.com a few years ago. I got hooked, even though I'm not really much of a cook. I like to try out recipes, and appreciate the review feature. I really think this site has made me a better cook!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandma's old-fashioned fried cakes, molasses cookies, fried potatoes, cranberries. Other grandmother's riced potatoes. Mom's constant baking. Roast turkey, dressing at Thanksgiving; Ham for Christmas and Easter, always our own farm-raised meat, fruit & veggies. Homemade strawberry shortcake!
My cooking triumphs
My lasagna was always wonderful but it's an all-day project, and David can't tolerate cheese anymore. I'm hunting for the next real triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I regularly burn toast, among other things! My kitchen attention span is a problem....
