Marinated Grilled Chicken II

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
I have been using italian dressing for a marinate for years...it is great for marinating a roast then puting it in the crock pot...but anyway, for some reason we always have corn on the cob when we bbq chicken..what is good is keep basting your corn with the dressing while it is roasting on your grill..then sprinkle it with parm cheese...it is out of this world.

Parsleyed Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This was a fantastic rice pilaf. I needed something that would go with my sweet and spicey salmon and not overpower it.The flavors all went together just perfect. The only thing I did do differently was I used brown rice and low sodium chicken stock.....thank you for a great recipe

Ground Turkey Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
I made this for dinner last night and it was really good, I didn't have any ground turkey, but I did have some frozen left overs from thanksgiving, so I just shredded it,worked great. I added mushrooms and sliced olives in the sauce and used some sour cream for the noodles and we both really enjoyed it. This is a great basic recipe that so many things can be added to your own liking. I ended up making much more then the two of us can eat so I just froze about half of it.

Slow Cooker Marmalade Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
This was a really great recipe...the only proble I had with it was the sauce was too thin...and I didn't have time to thicken it when dinner was served. But I had leftovers and I tweeked the recipe and it was really good. I just pulled the chicken I had apart then thickened the sauce added a bit more curry and marmalade and simmered it for a few minutes and served it over brown rice, really good.

Pork Chops with Apples, Onions, and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This receipe was fantastic. I fixed it last night with fried yellow potatoes and it was a big hit. My husband has high bp so I have to go easy on the salt, so added some italian spices and the flavor just popped out.

Seasoned Broccoli Spears

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Cooking has become a bit of a problem since my husband was diagnosed with type II diabetis and high bp..now things need to be high in carbs and low in sodium. We have always had our broccoli with cheese sauce or lots of butter...no more. This is a great recipe for both counts and the flavor is still there...thanks.

This is the recipe that I have been looking for. We love red potatoes, but there are only so many ways that they can be fixed. They were fantastic.

Apple Beet Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I have been making beet salad for years but have never put the apples or walnuts in it....instead of overpowering the taste of the beets with a dressing, I use just a small amount of mayo with garlic, and onion powder.....great recipe, thanks.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
My mom use to make this as far back as I can remember,I have made it for years and now my daughter makes it...we always have it over mashed potatoes and we put some frozen corn in the gravy at the end....best comfort food that there is.....I really think that the secret to have a tasty and not bland tasting gravy is to be and season your hamburger while it is frying up...just a little salt and pepper and onion powder will do the trick. Great recipe.

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I decided to try making a tuna noodle casserole different. Well guess I had better stick to my way of making it..we didn't like the peas or the cheese in it. I don't know just too many flavors.

Pork Tenderloin with Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
We had this for dinner the other night and it was a big hit. I had an already cooked pork tenderloin in the freezer so just made the gravy and added the mushrooms, let it all simmer for about 30 minutes and WoW!!!I didn't know if we would like the gravy with vinegar in it but it was great. What few leftovers went in hubby's lunch the next day. Great recipe.

Meatloaf Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This recipe is one of the worst. I put it in for just an hour and it was so dry. It really needs some moisture in the hamburger. I really don't think I'll be fixing it again. My hubby is the kind that will try anything once, but he didn't even like it. Sorry

Tamale Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
I would have given this recipe a 5 star but I ended up tweeking it and found that I like it better my way. I read the reviews and so many said that it was tasteless and that it was mushy. And that they expected a cornbread top and it and didn't get it. Well here is what I did. Instead of using corn meal in my filler I used flavored fritos corn chips all mashed up, and while my hamburger was frying I added two packages of taco seasoning. Then I just used a boxed cornbread mix and added a can of cream corn and put some on the bottom of my casserole and the rest on top. It came out great. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and served it with taco sauce, sour cream and a green salad on the side.

Spicy Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
I made this for dinner and my husband and I are both lovers of soup..but this one did really not do anything for either one of us. We had it for leftovers the next day after I doctered it up some. I added a package of taco seasoning, some hamburger, some sliced olives and mexi cheese. Served it with a big dollop of sour cream on top and crushed tortilla chips.

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
My husband and I both loved this recipe. I just did a little tweeking of my own. Instead of milk mixed with the egg I used fat free sourcream..then I used italian spices and put a bit of parmesan cheese on the top and it really browned and made a crusty top on the casserole. This one is a winner for sure. In my opinion it really does not need the pats of butter on the top before it goes in the oven.

Zucchini and Corn Topped with Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
This is a great recipe to use as a basic starter recipe. I used zucchine and yellow squash, corn, mushrooms and added some sliced olives..I then added a can of tomato sauce and a can of diced tomatoes..It made a really nice sauce to have over pasta. My husband loved it and so did I. We will have this again.

Zucchini and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This recipe has a lot of potential. Instead of putting it under the broiler I just put it in a 250 degree oven for about a half hour..this way the flavor has a chance to go through and combine with each other and it was delicious. My husband wanted to know if I had saved the recipe.
