About this Cook
I'm an interior designer by profession but also owned a little cafe for a few years, and love all things creative, which is why I also love to cook and create my own versions of recipes I find.
My favorite things to cook
My personal favorites are anything with way too many carbs!! If it has rice, pasta or potatoes, I'm probably going to love it. I'm not much of a meat eater so I particularly love dishes that are primarily vegetables...and carbs, of course.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family gathers here at my home every Sunday evening and they are always happy to test my new recipes. My mom is a baker and so usually I provide the main course and she brings on the pies, cakes or whatever strikes her fancy that day. Yum!
My cooking triumphs
Everything, of course! ...well most things anyway.
My cooking tragedies
My homemade ravioli....not so good. I'm going to attempt them once again someday!

Refried Beans Without the Refry
Okay...so I started the slow cooker last night before bed and woke up to a great smell wafting up to my bedroom! I used 6 cups of chicken broth and 3 cups of water and added NO salt until this morning when I mashed them with my stick blender (still in the crock pot). UNBELIEVEABLY GOOD...No need for my cereal...I've already had my breakfast! I keep going back for another spoonful and really have to stop so that there will be plenty for my party tonight!

Daddy's Sausage and Peppers
Yum! My only complaint might be that fortunately I was only feeding three people, because one can of diced tomatoes would never have been enough liquid for the recipe if I was really making for 6. I added a little crushed red pepper and a little less garlic, but a bit more olive oil. Definitely a "keeper".

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread
THE sourdough recipe. Couldn't be any better or easier.
