About this Cook
I am 26 years old and I've been cooking for a while. I don't get the chance to cook very often due to a busy schedule, so I'm still learning.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that involves pulling the meat off of a rotisserie chicken! Sooo easy! Also, anything that involves the crock pot and slow cooking but I have a hard time planning in advance to make these meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is a chicken pot pie master. She uses an old family recipe and makes the noodle dough from scratch. I still haven't even attempted this. My favorite tradition is making the stuffing or as we call it "filling" the night before Thanksgiving. Again, an old family recipe that I believe was created for a small army!
My cooking triumphs
The best 2 things that I make are slow-cooked roast beef and apple pie. It gives me great pleasure to know that I can actually make a good old-fashioned Sunday dinner! I learned my apple pie recipe in a home economics class in high school and mastered the pie crust right off the bat. Even my mom is jealous that I make such a great pie crust(something she could never get quite right)! :)
My cooking tragedies
One of the first times I ever made dinner for my boyfriend(of now 8 years), I made a chicken casserole from a home ec recipe that I loved! I bought all of the same exact ingredients right down to the brand names but for some reason...it tasted awful! He didn't think so...but I did. Maybe it was my nervousness playing with my taste buds, but I never made it again. I also love pork chops but for some reason I cannot get them right. I've tried lots of recipes which taste great, but my pork is just so dry! I've tried grilling, baking, frying....I've tried marinated, smoked, all sorts of things...but pork chops just don't like me. I also once made a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing from scratch for my boyfriend's birthday. He was going to be home from work any minute so I didn't have time to let the cake completely cool before I frosted it and it ended up a gloppy, goopy, mess! Even after sticking it in the freezer! It still tasted great but it wasn't very pretty. :)

Three Cheese Lasagna
I made this recipe exactly as stated and it came out wonderfully! I'm not big on ground meats so this recipe peaked my interest. I used Ragu sauce because that's my favorite. I also added pepperonis to the top because I was afraid my fiance would miss the meat. He LOVED it! I might double the sauce next time because after sitting for a few days and reheating it was starting to get a little dry.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
These have become my staple Christmas cookie. I've never had a better chocolate chip cookie!! I make these every year! The pudding really helps keep them soft...which I like. If you are looking for a crispy/crunchy chocolate chip cookie...these are not for you.

Easy Spiced Brown Rice With Corn
This was pretty good! I doubled the recipe because I didn't believe that only 1 cup of rice would have been enough for 2 people (I was wrong). It was more than enough! The only thing was I think it could have done without the cilantro...maybe that is just my personal taste, though. I also used vegetable broth instead of water as some others have suggested.
