About this Cook
My hobbies are cooking and hockey. I never really cared about cooking until I had my daughter. Since then I make sure I know what's going into my family's bellies. Cooking helps me control that.
My favorite things to cook
I like all sorts of things. I guess I have the least amount of knowledge when it comes to baking. I like to bake, it's just I like to eat what I bake too much. So I try to focus on making things that I should be eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmm...I think I'm starting some of them. I never really learned about cooking from my family. I'm more self taught.
My cooking triumphs
I must say I prepared the best Thanksgiving turkey I've ever had. My mom's boyfriend made a slight mistake saying it was the best he's ever had too right in front of my mom (he's had her's before). My mom agreed to let me make the bird, but argued with me because I wanted to brine it. She said it wasn't tradition. Since that Thanksgiving we've brined the bird everytime we've had it. I guess I get to start some new family traditions.
My cooking tragedies
Once, I was making brownies for a boyfriend's family. I was also cooking dinner at the same time. Not paying complete attention to what I was doing I forgot to put eggs in one of those instant recipes for brownies....after we had dinner I pulled out what looked like coffee grinds in a pan out of the oven. I looked like a total idiot, I mean who screws up boxed brownies.

It's Chili by George!!
This chili was so good, I couldn't help but sneak into the frige at night to take little bites of the leftovers. My only changes we're to omit the tomato juice for a can of whole tomatoes which I chopped up. Also I used all pinto beans, since I'm a wierdo and I don't like kindey. Lastly, just added a little chopped up jalapeno! My hubby is going to give me a hard time for breaking into the chili I set aside for his lunch tomorrow...lol!

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy
I do not like any form of fast food fried chicken, KFC..nasty! This recipe however was awesome. It was the 1st time I've ever attempted to make fried chicken and is far better than any other I've ever tried. Even my boyfriend who usually gives my new recipes a so-so, told me to rate this as high as I could. Only thing I did different was to dip the chicken in each mixture twice & let it set 10-15 mins before adding it to the pan. Thanks for opening my eye to the goodness of fried chicken!
