About this Cook
I was born in Massachusetts, but have been raised entirely in the South, which has no doubt dictated the way I cook and the things I like to eat--although, I'll probably never like tea, sweet or otherwise. I'm married with two kids (three if you count the hubby--and I do), I work full time, and I go to school part time. I still find time to cook, though.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer baking desserts to other types of cooking, but I still love it all. My only hold-out is grilling. Hubby's gotta cook sometime!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is HUGE. It just doesn't feel like Thanksgiving unless the table bows under the weight of the food.
My cooking triumphs
Themed cakes are coming along for me. Getting creative with them can be hard at times, but they sure are a lot of fun.
My cooking tragedies
I'm not quick- or light-handed enough to get pastry to turn out right, but I'm still working on it. My first pie crust is a memory I shut away with other embarrassing moments, like those akin to toilet paper stuck to my shoe. Don't. Get. Me. Started.

Cornbread Muffins I
These burned at the specified temperature and cooking time, but were otherwise great. Will make again at a lower tempurature. Thanks, Lisa.

No Bake Cookies V
These are some of the ugliest cookies you can make, but they sure do disappear fast. :)

Sourdough Starter
I rated this five stars, but it was my first sourdough starter, so I really have nothing to compare it to. I like the way my bread turned out, but it tasted more like plain white bread and less like sourdough--I'm not sure if that's because I only had my starter for two weeks when I made the bread, or if the starter isn't very good. Next time I do it I'll wait longer and see what happens. Thanks!
