About this Cook
I am a 33 year old mom and model. I am not new to cooking, just new to cooking WELL. ;) I currently live about 30 minutes west of Chicago, Illinois.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new and unique things, however with a young baby it isn't easy...so I stick to pastas, Mexican dishes, Italian, casseroles, ground beef dishes, cookies, cakes, brownies and trifiles. I love to bake almost anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have an annual Christmas cookie baking party - it is almost always just the females and the young children. We spend all day and night making all of our cookies for the season - one of my fondest memories that I plan to carry on.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I get a great reaction!
My cooking tragedies
My miniscule meatloaf, the chicken that refused to cook and the fudge disaster to name only a few...

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie
I have never baked an apple pie so I was so nervous about making this recipe. However it is very simple and easy to do! But best of all this is one of the best apple pies I have tasted! Now I actually DON'T like apple pie as it usually just is kinda blah to me...this one was not! My family adored it and it was gone the next day. Thank you so much for sharing such a delightful recipe!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits
I made these for a summer party yesterday and they turned out really great! One thing I may change is I may add milk instead of water, as some people suggested. I made them as suggested and they seemed just slightly dry (to me, anyway). Also they need to bake a bit longer. But they have a great flavor and were enjoyed by everyone. I will make them again. These would go great with a hearty stew or soup in the winter!

Juicy Fruit Salad
I made this for a summer family party and it was a huge hit! I added a jar of maraschino cherries, which gave it a bit more sweetness that everyone seemed to enjoy - so much, that this was the one dish that was empty! It is a very simple recipe, but one you can add to as you wish. Thanks!
