Savory Herb Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
No one in my family cared for this and we all love rice. It came out too strong tasting and I even cut back on the amount of soy sauce and seasoning. Unfortunately most of the rice was thrown away.

It's Chili by George!!

I used this recipe for the first time I ever made chili and I thought it turned out great. I cut the recipe in half thinking that it would be way to much, I wish had more!!

Farfalle Special

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
I made this last week and wasn't thrilled by it. I am not a huge fan of blue cheeses but thought I would try this anyway because I loved everything else in the recipe. The roquefort was too strong for me and I put in less than the recipe called for.

Good for You Greek Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I thought this was a great starting point for a very light summer side dish. I needed a main course for a few friends so I started with this and added a little grilled chicken (that was left over in the fridge), macaroni salad pasta and a bit of romain lettuce chopped small. I stilled allowed the cucmbers and tomatoes to be the main event by adding less pasta, lettuce and chicken than I did cucumbers and tomatoes. It was a huge hit!

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
This was wonderful, my husband said it was the best fish he has had in a long time. I melted the butter in a pan, added the garlic and then the lemon juice and parsley I then spooned it over the talapia so the garlic would not be so raw. I cooked the fish at 400 degrees for 12 minutes and it was done perfeclty. Thanks for a great recipe that I can use over and over.

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
This was simple and good, I will be making this again. I didn't give it 5 starts because I felt the onion soup mix was was a bit to strong of a flavor and didn't have enough citrus flavor. I think I will put a bit less in next time. I added 2 fresh garlic cloves instead of the garlic powder and and add lemon zest (I would have used orange zest but I didn't have oranges). The sauce came out perfect. After cooking the thighs I put the sauce on the stove top and added 1 1/2 teaspoons corn starch to thicken it and served it with rice and veggies. All in all my husband I were very pleased.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This was great and so easy! I used a half a bottle of beer and added 2 garlic cloves. After my 3 1/2 lb. roasted cooked for 7 hours I pulled it out and sliced. I added some garlic powder, fresh black pepper and parsley flakes. The sliced roast was back in the crock pot for another hour and was VERY tender and full of flavor. Thanks for the recipe.

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
I used this spread on my bread tonight and it was great. I only used 1 1/2 cloves of garlic because they were so big and it was the perfect amount. I think I am going to make some of this up to keep in a countainer in the frig so I always have it on hand. I usually bake my garlic bread but I wanted to follow the recipe as closely as I could, so broiled it. The bottom of the bread was too soft for me so I will go back to baking it.

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
This was good. I marinated the pork chops for 3 hours in the sauce (minus the water and corn starch). I boiled the the marinade, basted my chops as they were grilling, then added the water and corn starch to what was left in the pot. I had a nice glaze but it was VERY sweet (too sweet) so I added more soy, a dash of garlic powder and a splash of worchestire to it and was happy with the out come. I will probably cut back on the brown sugar next time.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Easy, quick and with so few ingredients I am sure to have everything to make this dish. My kids and husband thought it was good but none of us were wowed by it. I think I will try it again and make the sauce that so many other people have tried.

Feta Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This was fabulous and it was the first time I have made stuffed chicken breasts! I made this last night for my family and everyone, including my 4 yr old, loved it. I pounded out my chicken breasts because they were to small to cut a pocket into. I diced up my bacon before cooking it, let it cool and added that to my feta crumbles. I was worried I didn't have enough cheese so I grated a little bit of Jack cheese also. I let the chicken breats marinate in the olive oil, lemon, oregano and garlic while I cooked the bacon. I did cut the olive oil in half and it was still plenty. The chicken breats were perfectly done after 35 minutes at 350 degrees, juicy, tender and full of flavor. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!!

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
I love the richness of a good alfredo sauce. Over the past several years I have tried several different recipes that I haven't been wowed by. Last night I made this one...WOW! It turned out great, very rich and creamy just like it should be. I didn't have heavy cream so I just used milk after melting the butter and some flour together. I poured it over shell pasta (that's what my littler kids like the most) and add chicken that I cooked up. Thanks for the great recipe!

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
Awesome spread!! I cut the recipe in half since I was serving 8 people, it was gone in a flash and I had a request for the recipe. I served it with honey wheat crackers and wheat pita chips. I did add about 2 Tbl of milk to thin it a bit and let it sit in the frig overnight. I will caution everyone that the garlic in it is VERY strong so adjust it to your taste, I was lucky that everyone I served it to loved garlic.

Grilled Shrimp Scampi

Good grilled shrimp recipe but it could have used a bit more flavor. I followed the recipe to the "T". I will definately make this again but adding a bit more garlic and red pepper flakes.

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
My husband and 2 toddler boys enjoyed this meal. I followed the recipe and after tasting wasn't wowed by it so I made a few adjustments. I added the ingedients I would when making a cheese sauce - a few handfuls of extra sharp cheddar cheese, a few dashes of hot sauce, 1-2 tablespoons worcestershire, and a few dashes of paprika. I didn't have the sour cream so I used 4 oz of cream cheese and it gave it a rich and creamy flavor. The sauce was so think I added a few splashes of chicken stock. The chicken was so tender I couldn't cut it into bit sizes so shredded it and served all of it over rice and served it with fresh green beans. All in all I think it turned out well for such an easy meal.

Peanut Butter Fruit Dip

Oh my gosh!! My 4 year old son and I just made this together for our afternoon snack. We are having it with apple slices and pretzel rods. I don't know which one of us likes it more. This is great for kids, both to make and to snack on.

Marinated Pork Chops

Thanks for a great recipe! I use this recipe whenever I grill pork chops or a pork tenderloin and marinate it anywhere from 2-5 hours. I add about 1 tablespoon of honey. It is always awesome!! (just don't over cook your pork)

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
This is my new favortie way to prepare potatoes! I didn't have all the herbs that the recipe called for. What I had in the pantry was thyme, basil, fresh garlic, oregano, rosemary, salt and pepper and olive oil. I let the potatoes "rest" on the counter mixed with everything in a ziploc as one reviewer suggested. The last 10 minutes of cooking I sprinkled a touch of brown sugar over the potatoes mixed them up and put them back in the oven. The brown sugar is a great contrast to the salt and herbs!!
