About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and I bake holiday cookies every year for all our friends & family for Christmas. She has baked Holiday cookies since I was a kid, I have always helped out. I look forward to doing that each year. It is a really fun and yummie way to get me in the holiday spirit.
My cooking triumphs
I made my first Easter dinner this year. I made my own Honey baked ham, lemon zest Green Beans, twice baked cheesy Potato's, glazed Carrots, cornbread and Pumpkin Pie. It was Delicious. I really impressed myself. I also just BBQ'd ribs for the first time on Labor Day. They were FANTASTIC! If I do say so myself.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make Pineapple upside down cake once and when I was flipping the sucker over after hours of tedious preparation and cooking. I got a little too over zealous and it slide out of the pan and rolled right off the counter onto the floor. I was so so upset. I almost wanted to eat it off the floor. haha! What a bummer! I also tend to leave out the meat on dishes. I am basically a Vegetarian so when I make things I dont always think about putting meat in dishes. But my daughter loves meat and so does Juan. Several times when I have made dinner we will be eating it and Juan will look at me and say . . . Wasn't there suppose to be meat in this Casserole and I'm like CRAP! I knew I forgot something. Oooopsie! Better add that in for the leftovers! hehe

Cajun Boiled Peanuts
Oooo These are SPICY! If you like HOT food these are great. I think Boiled PEanuts are an acquired taste. And being from the South I have definitly acquired a taste for Boiled Peanuts. These is a great recipe. Reminds me of the peanuts you can pick up on the side of the road from local farmers in the south. Yum! Great for Football season!! I always bring Boiled Peanuts to tailgate! Be careful not to overcook the peanuts. Nobody likes mooshy Peanuts after all.

Slow Cooker Country-Style Spareribs
What a great recipe. This tates so much like the ribs my grandmother used to make in the south. Yummie! The ribs fall right off the bone. I agree with some of the others about boiling the ribs first not frying them. (Its healthier that way as well) I really enjoyed the sauce and all the veggies. Great way to sneak them in for kids who are picky about veggies. I also chopped up some carrots and served over egg noodles. As somebody suggested. It was wonderful. I highly recommend this recipe to all. Enjoy!

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World
This recipe is DELICIOUS! Being the only Vegetarian in a family of Carnivores. This was a hit even at my house. We made some Chili Frys and Chili (veggie) Hot dogs and everybody raved about it. Makes great left overs. I agree with some of the others that the 1/4 cup of Chili powder may be much for a lot of people. Esp. With all the other chilis and spices in this recipe. But if you like it HOT this is the way to go! :) Yummie!
