I am a very cheerful woman, and I enjoy preparing tasty and nutritious food for myself, my family, and my friends. I lived in the Midwest for 4 years and I have brought some of the foods I learned there with me back to Norway. I love coming on this site to find new recipes when I get "homesick" for the US so that I at least get to eat some of the foods I miss. I just graduated from college this last spring so once I get my first job I will come back to the US to meet with friends and get more inspiration.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade lasagna, pizza and burgers for when I am not so healthy.
Cheesecakes for parties.
Tasty low carb food for everyday use.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am not very good at family cooking traditions, I am not very fond of many of the traditional foods (especially dinners) around here, so I am actually creating my own traditions by making my own versions of the traditional dishes. I do hang onto the Christmas cookie traditions, but even there I sneak in some new flavors now and again.
My cooking triumphs
My homemade lasagna. I have made this lasagna since I was probably about 11-12 years old when my older sister taught me the recipe. It never tastes the same twice, I never use a recipe, and it is always tasty.
Cheesecakes are always a hit too, I always try new recipes and flavors, and so far I have never been disappointed.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made the tomato sauce for my lasagna in a pot that wasn't nonstick, half of it formed a burnt layer in the pot almost 2 inches thick.
The first time I made homemade bread was memorable too. The bread didn't rise, and came out too hard to be cut with a knife.
