I am a single, working girl with a live-in boyfriend. If I have the extra money, I'd rather go grocery shopping for a new, gourmet recipe then anything else. I feel at ease in my kitchen, and I love the memories I make there. One thing I love the most, is making people ooh and ahh over things they haven't tried before. (Compliments aren't so bad either.)
My favorite things to cook
I cannot put my finger on one thing. I guess my favorite thing to cook though, is SOMETHING NEW. I love the new experience it brings, and the excitement I have waiting for the final result. I feel like I can "take on the world" when a dish/dessert comes out perfect and everyone is raving, no matter what it may be!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Christmas, my mother and I make homemade sugar coookies. After we roll out, press and cook them, all the kids get together and decorate them with candies and powder sugar icing. Its a real bonding time for our family.
My cooking triumphs
I have been cooking for myself since I was just a little bitty ol' thing. But I'd have to say that my triumph was when I cooked my very first Thanksgivng Dinner for my working family at the age of 13. They were amazed at how well it all turned out, minus the stuffing. lol. But I think thats when my love of cooking really began.
My cooking tragedies
What a cruel question. But, I do have my share of them, so where shall I start? The stuffing, as mentioned above, was too dry and had waaay too much seasoning. I have attempted a handful of times to bake whole chickens, and have yet to succeed on that. I'll stick to pre-cuts and boneless. Give me a few weeks and I'm sure I can add some more in this box. LOL
