I'm originally from Green Bay Wisconsin and grew up watching and enjoying my Grandma and Granpa W.'s cooking - they really lived the cooking is love theory - you never left there hungary and there was always enough food to go around so everyone was welcome, which came in handy as they lived 2 blocks from Lambeau Stadium and you never missed a Packer Sunday meal. I moved to the UP of Michigan and became a full-fledged Yooper!! My husband and son love to hunt and fish so we are never short of meat/fish.
My favorite things to cook
From my Grandma I got my love of baking deserts! She made the most awesome bar!! and from my Grandpa I love to make soup- nothing better in the chilly UP then a weekend with soup cooking on the stove :) I am always looking for something new to make for dinner - my husband has mentioned that i try so much new stuff I never make the favorites :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking for Sunday Packer games, and also enjoy hosting Thanksgiving - maybe i am a control freak but I want to plan the menu and make EVERYTHING myself - so when people ask if they can bring anything I tell them just yourselves. There is nothing better then having a family gathering and hearing silence at the table because everyone is eating :)
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean Baklava and recieve many requests for it, I also am pretty good at cheesecakes. I guess that some of my biggest triumphs would be coming from a non-game eating home and marrying into a game-eating family I can cook just about anything they throw on the table!
My cooking tragedies
I have had sooo many..... oven stopped working in the middle of Thanksgiving preparation, Can not for the life of me make dumplings for my tomatoe soup, and just recently burned the microwave lasagna we had at camp!! but i guess those are not so bad they will make good stories and provided lots of laughs so there is nothing tragic about that
