Funnel Cakes I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
These were great. I only used one egg for the batter and one cup of oil for frying and it worked perfectly. I also added one tsp of vanilla for a little extra flavor. We will definitely be making these again.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
This recipe is amazingly simple and delicious. When making this I use only one cup of sugar, half a can of mountain dew, and also add one teaspoon of vanilla. When you serve this make sure that you spoon some of the sauce over the top of your dumpling or even your ice cream. It's divine!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I have failed miserably at making gravy more times than I care to count. This recipe was perfect. I can't believe that after all these years I am finally able to make biscuits and gravy at home instead of having to go out for it. This is the best sausage gravy I've ever had.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly. The graham cracker crust was way too thick and not sweet enough to compliment the cheesecake, so next time I'll reduce the number of crackers or possibly replace them with another cookie. Otherwise, this was a hit and I will definitely be making it again.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
This recipe is extremely easy to make and tastes exactly like the monkey bread I used to eat as a child. I omitted the raisins and nuts.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
This recipe saved a meal that I was about to throw out!! I made sloppy joes last night from a recipe in my well known red/white checked cookbook... they were bland and flavorless. Since this recipe shared many of the ingredients from that recipe I decided to go ahead and add the remaining ingredients that the other recipe didn't have... ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. The difference was unbelievable! I will never try another sloppy joe recipe again. Actually, I only made sloppy joes because everyone else likes them... I have always hated them. Not anymore!! If I could give this more than 5 stars I definitely would!

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I have been making deviled eggs like these for years, but it always seemed as if something was missing. I have never included sugar in my deviled eggs, but since this recipe is so close to my own I went ahead and tried it. The sugar added the "bite" that I was missing from my own recipe. The only change I made from this recipe was to add two tablespoons of sweet relish. These were delicious!

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
These were a toss up for me, but my husband enjoyed them immensely. He has incredible self control with food, but it flew out of the window with these cookies. I found them to have a floury taste to them and the "melt in your mouth" experience was more one of "makes your mouth incredibly sticky/dry" for me. I'll make these again, but only because he requested them.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

I quadrupled the recipe (but not the seeds) as others suggested. These were gone in a heartbeat. Very good!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
I used this recipe to make mini meatloaves and they turned out perfectly. I hate overly moist meatloaf, so I changed out the cracker crumbs with Italian bread crumbs (which also added some extra flavor) and then crushed up 10 saltine crackers. I spooned the sauce over the top of each mini loaf instead of putting it in the bottom of the pan. The meat was perfectly moist... not too dry and not mushy. Everyone loved them!

Roasted Tomato Salsa I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
This salsa isn't quite what I was hoping it would be. I can taste every individual ingredient (including the olive oil) instead of all the flavors melding together into one. Overall, the tomato flavor is overpowered by everything else.

Easy and Delicious Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
An okay recipe, but most likely won't be making it again. The flavor was just a little off the mark for us. The chicken was so tender that I was unable to lift an entire breast piece out of the crock pot without it shredding. I made no additions or substitutions to this recipe. The only alteration I made was to add all ingredients at once except for the cream cheese which I added during the last hour of cooking. I had no trouble with clumpy bits of cream cheese because I brought mine to room temp., dropped it in by the spoonfuls, and then whisked everything together (minus the chicken which I removed to shred) until it was mixed well. EDITED ONE DAY LATER: I am actually changing my rating on this from 3 stars to 2 stars... a first for me. Another reviewer said her husband asked if this was tuna casserole, and I couldn't imagine how he could draw the comparison. Today (one day after making this) I know exactly how he could confuse the two... it looks and smells exactly like tuna casserole. I can't bring myself to eat it again.

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Very quick and easy recipe. We enjoyed it, but it wasn't cheesy by any stretch of the imagination. This is definitely a do-again recipe, but next time I will make variations to it such as replacing one can of soup with mixed vegetables and shredded cheese.

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
The only good thing I can say about this recipe is that the filling tasted good. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the puffs because the dough never thickened. I measured the ingredients out and double checked everything before mixing, so I'm not sure what went wrong. This was so soupy that it was impossible to "drop by tablespoons". I gave up, tossed the whole batch out, and we ate the filling as if it were extra thick/rich pudding.

Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
This recipe is extremely easy to follow and the rolls came out nicely. I followed the recipe to the letter. I am only giving it 4 stars because they were not as sweet as we like them and because they were extremely heavy/dense. Otherwise, very tasty and I will definitely make them again using a few modifications.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly and the chicken came out perfectly. The chicken tasted like I spent the entire day slaving over it, but in reality I only spent about 20 minutes total prepping it and shredding it a few hours later. I cooked this on Low for 4 hours before removing it to shred it. After returning the shredded chicken to the slow cooker I chose to turn the temperature setting to High for an hour and a half because lifting the lid on a slow cooker drastically drops the temperature and it takes quite a long time to bring it back up. I set the temperature back down to Low for the remaining two and a half hours. The chicken was extremely moist and full of flavor. The only change I will make to it in the future will be to thicken the sauce a bit... otherwise, this was perfect!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
I decided to make this pie because I had all the ingredients on hand and the instructions were simple. WOW!!! pretty well sums up this recipe. Apple pie is one of my least favorite types of pie, but this turned out amazing. My fiance was so impressed by it that he talked about how good it was for the rest of the evening. I followed the recipe to the letter except instead of putting the caramel on the top of the crust I poured it over the apples, put a lattice crust on top and then used an egg wash to make it extra pretty.

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
Quick and easy to prepare. I was running low on honey, so I cut the glaze part of the recipe in half, and it was still enough to adequately cover 6 chicken breasts. I also covered the dish with foil for the first half of the cooking time. The chicken came out very moist and just the right amount of flavor.
