About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes and test them out on family and friends. Most of the time ending with success. I enjoy a challenge and have recently embarked upon Indian cuisine which I am finding rather difficult. The internet has been incredibly helpful in my overall recipe search.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As far back as I can remember my mother has always baked Christmas cookies during the holiday season. Testing out new recipes but always the favorite sugar cookie cutouts. This was always such fun and now that I have my own children I look forward to this time every year, and I let them lick the beaters too!
My cooking triumphs
My meatloaf that my husband loves and asks me to,"write down your recipe!" My tomato soup that I made one Thanksgiving vacation at my in-laws where everyone asked for it over and over again. I think we made it five times that one week. And I must add, my own German chocolate layer cake that I made for a special treat, it was divine!
My cooking tragedies
Easy to remember, we had been married less than three months and I baked a ham dinner. After which my husband told me how much he liked Pea soup. So, of course I attempted this recipe with gusto. The smelly, thick, green sludge that stunk up our home was definitely not what he was hoping for. Nobody tasted that disaster!

Oriental Cold Noodle Salad
Delicious! Improvised with thin spaghetti instead of soba noodles and we like to use crunchy peanut butter instead of just peanuts. Great flavor, terrific side dish.

Ham Salad Spread
Very tasty and easy to make. Great use of leftover ham. Kids did not eat it though, not a surprise.

Creamy Asparagus Pasta
Delicious! Made a few adjustments; *steamed asparagus to "al dente" then added to sauce of sauteed *3 T butter,3 cloves of minced garlic, 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes and 1/2 c freshly grated parmesan. Forgot the lemon juice and probably could use even more garlic/tomatoes. It just keeps getting better! Hubby and I loved it, and picky 6 yr old ate it!
