About this Cook
I read cookbooks like some people read novels. I enjoying finding recipes and preparing them for my family. Thank goodness for my wonderful husband and children who are (almost) always willing to try something new. I have found some great recipes on Allrecipes.com, but it took me several years to finally became a member. Now I'm adding another step to my cooking hobby - reviewing!
My favorite things to cook
Favorite things to cook? Just about anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my family we have a saying - "Nothing says Christmas like hot wings!" Lately though our saying goes more like - "Nothing says (insert holiday here) like hot wings!" Seems we're always coming up with an excuse to make them. There's nothing better than the whole family in the kitchen contributing to a wonderful meal. It makes for good times and good eating.
My cooking triumphs
I had 8 people from out of town stay at my house, in addition to my family of 5. I had to keep them entertained, be a good housekeeper, and provide 3 meals a day for 4 days. I had a lot of people to help, but I didn't want to rely on that. With a little planning I was able to prepare large amounts of food with minimal time, money, and effort. And I never lost the wow factor at any meal!
My cooking tragedies
Honestly, I don't remember this, but my husband does. While we were dating, many of our meals were homemade either by him or by me. He tells me I made a dish one night that made him think twice about whether I could possibly "be the one." Thankfully I had many more opportunities to prove my skills in the kitchen and eventually won him over!

Tater Tot Casserole IV
This is by no means one of my best meals I make, but I give this 5 stars because it is so easy and family friendly. My kids not only love eating it, they make it themselves. For 32 oz tots, I use 2 lbs ground beef, 2 cans soup, 2 cans green beans, and 2 cups cheese. Mix the meat, soups, and beans together; spread cheese over; top with tots.

Salisbury Steak
The family loved this, but because the gravy ingredients didn't look very appealing, I used Serena's advice and made gravy with dry mushroom-onion soup mix. This will go into the regular rotation.

Peach Pie
Pretty darn good and so easy to make. Mine came out a little runny, but it didn't detract from the flavor. Warm with a scoop of ice cream, who cares if it's a little runny?
