About this Cook
Hi, my name is Lauren.Im 15 years old and I'm 2nd oldest of 2 sisters and 1 brother. I enjoy baking for family, bakesales, and friends. Other activities I'm involved in are high school dance team, dive team(i just started), piano lessons, band(i play the saxaphone:(), and thats about it. I love my family, friends, reading, writing,DDR, my dog, any cats, and ice cream!
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much any dessert; cookies, brownies, cake, frosting, tarts, pies, bars, muffins, sweet breads, rolls, cupcakes, pastries, ect.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking with my grandma at her house. She gives you your own space, tips when you need it, and never yells at you for making a mess. I love my grandma.
My cooking triumphs
I baked a collection of christmas cookies that i found in a magazine and i made a ton for some of my relatives on both sides of my family. I found a cookie recipe(cardamon snaps) that are one of my families favorites. My cousin and i found a bell pepper soup recipe that is still our favorite soup. Honestly i dont have too many accomplishments, most recipes i try i somehow mess them up or ruin them. I still have yet to make a recipe of my own or to venture off into cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I was making a cake when i made the mistake of filling the batter too high. When i went to check on the cake it was overflowing from the pan on to the oven. I had to wake my grandma from her nap to help me spoon the batter out of the oven. My grandma, being the person she is, told me not to worry about. she told me the cake would still taste fine, the oven was just a little dirty, and everyone makes mistakes. Thats another reason i love my grandma betty. My other cooking tragedy was when i was 7 my mom and i were making a tropical banana bread. One of my jobs was to add in the sugar. The sugar container was empty; so i searched until i found sugar in a smaller container. Little did i know that salt is usually found in the smaller containers. So, we baked the bread and it seemed to turn out fine. When we each had a piece it tasted disgustingly salty. Never again have i mistaken salt for sugar.
