Born and raised in the South, I lived in Louisiana for the first 6 years of my life but I hate spicy foods, my mouth just can't handle it! But I love, love, love butter, starches, potted meat and fried foods. Give me some homemade fried chicken livers with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and I'm on cloud nine.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort foods and casseroles...I'm old school Southern :) I also love pastas and potatoes, I'm always searching for new recipes using one of those two ingredients .
My favorite family cooking traditions
Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving are "Casserole Holidays" The only thing that doesn't qualify as a casserole on the table is the turkey or ham.
My cooking triumphs
I discovered feta cheese about 5 years ago and have a new found love for it. Half of my recipes that I keep around use it and I'm always inventing new ways to incorporate it into my meals. "Stuffed Peppers My Way" was one of the first recipes I made with feta (with a couple of tweaks, of course) and it was an immediate hit with my family.
My cooking tragedies
I believe I've set off the smoke alarm at least 20 times in half as many years. Which really evens out to only a couple of year...maybe that should be under my triumphs :)
