About this Cook
I am a wife and mother, in love with the God who created me, dauntless, a Texan by choice, the rock of my family. I am a youngin, so to speak...sometimes overlooked because of it. I am willing to try anything more than once. I love life! I am uber creative. I take an aesthetic approach to just about everything I do. I love to explore new places and create nostalgia by eating meals that correlate with the location. I love to eat a great meal (with dessert), cuddle with my favorite people and then go to sleep!
My favorite things to cook
Anything my family loves to eat. I'm mostly a meat and potatoes kinda housewife. I love to make chocolate chip cookies and grill burgers... nice classic stuff. I do things simple. I really enjoy going to the farmers market and trying new things. It always inspires me to think outside the box and focus on the point of food...sustaining our beautiful bodies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
A fairly new one would be deep-frying the Thanksgiving turkey. I love the contention and reasoning that arises when my husband and I figure out, yet again, how big of a deal it is to not get oil in the dishtowels or in the bathtub(grin). All of the time and concern is worth it. It turns out so incredibly delectbale, every time, and my husband has that sense of accomplishment in his contribution to our meal.
My cooking triumphs
Everything I make gets more than a pat on the back... if I do say so myself. That's only because my husband is so commending. No, I know I have messed up quite a few things (see tragedies). As far as "triumphs", I suppose I make a darn good kiev. A really nasty Banana puddin too! I've learned that you don't need a professional grade kitchen, just a desire to learn about food and a servant's heart.
My cooking tragedies
I called my mom to get a quick recipie for a different kind of apple pie crust than what I had made in the past. She claimed it was called "no-fail crust". Need I say more? I guess I wrote it down wrong. The look on my husbands face said it all. Well, I appreciated his honesty and we now enjoy some really good apple pie from the freezer section every now and again. Mrs. Smith just does it better. She knows apple pie crust is not supposed to be chewy.

This was good. I did not expect the texture. The tortillas became crunchy (a good kind of crunchy)
