About this Cook
I love cooking for other people. I can be a pain that way, as I won't take no for an answer and then don't eat the cooking myself! The fun is in the preparation for me really. Lately I'm doing a lot of recipes in my food processor and learning to use its million attachments I have for it. I also use the slow cooker sometimes to switch things up.
My favorite things to cook
Soup, cookies, dessert breads, dips, stir-frys, salads, pasta. Anything that is not "meat and potato like." Always open to trying new things. I cook with tons of fresh garlic and extra spice. I will find a way to add as much hot sauce to any recipe I can. I have some key ingredients I tend to try to work in wherever I can. Goat cheese, rice wine vinegar, avocado, and red chilies are other bigs ones these days. I am not into cutting corners, though it might help speed things up if I were, I like taking the long route.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmm. Probably my mothers pies and homemade bread. We didn't have store-bought bread at home and the house always had yummy desserts. l didn't eat them often, but enjoyed them when I did decide to splurge. It's all about moderation.
My cooking triumphs
Creme brulee, leek soup, squash lasasgna, wicked chili, seafood cobb salad, filet mignon with goat cheese, hot and sour soup, shrimp fried rice.
My cooking tragedies
Steak and potatoes in university for my friend at McGill. He said it tasted like liver and rocks. Ha. Mind you, I didn't know anything about cut then. I always remember that when preparing steak.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I
These came out nicely. I would use a bit less cocoa next time.

Excellent! I used candied pecans instead of almonds.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
These turned out perfectly. I don't flatten them, added choco chips and coconut (1/4 cup). No cinnamon, extra vanilla. Perfection.
