About this Cook
I live in Delaware Ohio on a family farm. My immediate family lives with in 1 mile of me and I wouldn't want it any other way. Besides cooking I love gardening and crafting. I love animals and have 3 dogs and 1 cat.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is Pie any kind of pie and since I have a line of people waiting for me to slice them when I take them somewhere they must be good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma used to let me help her can tomatoes sitting on a bar stool (because I was to short to reach the counter) to this day I can't wait to get that first jar full of tomato juice.
My cooking triumphs
I made a concord grape pie from start to finish and won best of show at the local fair.
My cooking tragedies
Not really a tragedy but still trying to live it down. My first pie was peach and couldn't get a hold of mom or my 2 g-ma’s to ask if I should peal the peaches. My sister (who is a home ec. teacher) told me to leave them on. The pie was a little fuzzy, everyone got a good laugh but it did disappear. My sister a couple of years later went to a gourmet restaurant and guess what they had on the menu! So I guess I am a gourmet chef. Now my husband (who I made the first one for) helps me make pie and is always slipping skins in because he says it makes it more flavorful. All this and I still catch grief what’s a girl to do? And that is the only one I'm going to admit to.

Corned Beef and Cabbage
This is my go to recipe for corned beef. It was great. I did cook my 3 1/2 lb roast beef on low for 9 hours and it was fork tender. I didn't add the cabbage until the last hour and it was plenty tender.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce
Great texture. Just a little to spicy once cooked so I would add one or the other of the peppers. We didn't have a problem with it being to sweet, I checked on our regular store bought sauce and sugar is the second ingredient which surprised me.

Roasted Okra
I like Okra, and I hate black pepper but I made this recipe as stated and I L-O-V-E it. We will be growing Okra in our garden this year and this is so fast we will be going to it time and again.
