About this Cook
Married now for a year to my Husband Daniel we are the blessed parents of four children, they may each have four legs but they are our children. Each one rescued from local shelters or abuse situations they have a knack for making me smile even though having four large dogs in a small ranch style home is testing at times, I wouldn't change it for the world. I love cooking and serving my Husband and the dogs, most especially our Great Dane Toby. He loves being underfoot at all times in the kitchen just in case I need a helping hand or a taste tester. Who needs a sweeper or a mop when you have a Great Dane trailing you. I have recently started a cooking blog; feel free to stop by and check it out...http://bigdogsmommyanddaddy.blogspot.com/.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook everything and anything. The family favorites are fajitas, pot roast and vegetables, and spaghetti. I also love to bake however I do not have the patience required. I went through a span of doing nothing but baking zucchini bread. I made every kind of zucchini bread imaginable. I also love to slice and dice. I am probably one of the few people around who loves to chop an onion. Something about using my knife to dice an onion or chop a carrot calms me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook from my Grandmother and my Father. My Grandmother taught my Father as well as myself so we don't measure using measuring spoons or cups, everything was done by hand. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. My favorite memory of my Grandmother, who I just recently lost, was when she would make her famous potato salad. She had this one special bowl where she would mix all of the wet ingredients. As many times as I have helped or watched her make that dish I still cannot perfect it. I think it has something to do with that bowl. That bowl is the one item she owned that I am first in line to receive from her estate. It's older than me and has chips all over it, but to me it's the most beautiful thing ever.
My cooking triumphs
I consider any dish I make a triumph when my Husband and family asks that I make it again.
My cooking tragedies
Never boil potatoes unattended. I had a pot of potatoes going awhile back for mashed potatoes when a friend stopped by to visit. Instead of watching the stove I was to busy talking. Needless to say, all of the water eventaully boiled out and that just left the potatoes in the pot. They were not edible, the entire bottom of the pot was a dark substance that most definately did not resemble potatoes.

Chili Dog Casserole I
I liked this dish, not enough to give it five stars my husband on the other hand ate just about the entire casserole all on his own, I had one scoop. I think it's safe to say he would give it five stars.

Banana Banana Bread
I thought this was a very bland banana bread. I should have followed the suggestions of some of the earlier reviews by adding some cinnamon and vanilla. Not sure if I will try this one again.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken
This was really good. My family really enjoyed it and everyone was asking for the recipe. I omitted the mayo as I didn't have any. I thought it was a little too sweet but everyone disagreed and thought it was perfect as is.
