Oh my gosh, these were AWESOME! Like others, I used vanilla instead of cold water. These are one of my new favorite holiday munchies! :)

Recipe perfect as written! Changed nothing. Hubby and I LOVED it...it is much heartier than most veggie soups.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
This was a very good pancake, but I agree, it was a bit plain. I may try adding some brown sugar or cinnamon next time to the dry ingredients. I did add a little vanilla and sifted my flour mixture twice. It was a great way to start the morning! :)

Pineapple Macadamia Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
This was DELICIOUS! I just got back from a trip to Hawaii and was missing the Islands, so I decided to try this recipe. Boy, was it a pleasant surprise! I cooked the chicken on medium/low heat so that the nuts wouldn't burn before the chicken was done. I also ran the chopped nuts through my chopper again to make them more fine. Like other reviewers, I added 2 tbsp of flour to the nut mixture along with 1/4 tsp of garlic. I used spinach leaves underneath the chicken, and they added a nice, healthy touch to the dish. Definitely double the sauce!!! Hubby and I both enjoyed this for something completely different. :)

Monkey Bread I

This was delicious! I only used 1 can of biscuits and 1/3 of all the other ingredients since it was just for my husband and me. I made mine in a round cake pan. I can imagine with 3 cans of biscuits layered on top of one another, the recipe would taste even better. :)

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
This was good! I used 6 Yukon Gold potatoes and cut them in half before boiling. 15 mins did the trick. I omitted the celery and added a bit more mayo for a smoother consistency. I topped with paprika. Great!

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Like others, I used only 3 cups of sugar and then sifted it. I also use a whole jar of reduced fat pb AND reduced fat butter, and they still turn out wonderfully! After freezing them for 30-60 minutes, they are easy to coat with chocolate. For the chocolate, I use butter flavored shortening and melt it and the chips in the microwave. I also like to double dip the pb balls to add an extra chocolate layer. This recipe is really easy, and since there are no weird ingredients like graham crackers or anything, these come out silky smooth and not gritty at all. :)

Aunt Millie's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
This recipe was a HIT at a party last night. Every bit was eaten and everyone commented on how good it was and asked for the recipe. The fresh broccoli is key. I didn't put any salt in it and halved the pepper. I added half a container of sour cream to the soup mixture and a splash of milk, and of course, I added extra cheese (cheddar, not American). For the topping, I used a stick of melted butter and a sleeve of crushed ritz crackers. You have to try this kind! :)

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This tasted SOOOO good on the Best Rolled Sugar cookies on this site. I used 4 tsp of milk and 4 tsp of corn syrup. Instead of almond extract, I used 2 tsp of vanilla. YUMMY! The first batch I made was a little thin, but even it hardened eventually and was a perfect texture for icing.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This was a hit!! Like other reviewers, I mixed most of the syrup w/ the apples and reserved the last bit to pour over the apples. I used honey crisp apples, cooked on 380 the first 15 mins and then down to 350...cooked a bit longer than recipe stated. I also added cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of cloves. I wasn't sure how long to simmer the syrup, so I did it for about 8 mins after boiling. The apples were a perfect consistency!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This is hands-down THE best lasagna my hubby or I have ever had. It beats the best Italian place I've ever been to! I changed the amount of beef I used. I did get the sausage which added a LOT of zest to the dish, but I also used 1.25 pounds of lean ground beef with it. I drained the meat and simmered the sauce for a couple of hours. In the sauce, I put some extra tomato sauce b/c I had a big can of it. I put the whole lasagna together the day before. When I cooked it, I left it in there a total of 10 minutes more since it was chilled when I started it in the oven. I think next time I may add some sauteed mushrooms. :) Regarding the noodles tip, it worked for me! I put the noodles in a boiler of hot tap water and left it on medium-low on the stove for about 20 mins, never letting it reach a boil. I laid the noodles out to dry on paper towels. I have enough sauce leftover to make a pizza or a plate or two of spaghetti, so into the freezer it goes. Enjoy! This is definitely a favorite recipe!

Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
This wasn't bad whatsoever, but it didn't excite my taste buds. It's quick and easy, especially if you use instant taters. I did not, however, in the future I will because I don't think it would affect the taste at all. I added a can of corn and did the layering suggested by another reviewer...meat mixture, corn/veggies, taters, and cheese. I'd make again for something wholesome, filling, and easy.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
Well, I hate to go against the grain, so to speak, but I have a MUCH better banana nut bread recipe that I'm going to submit to allrecipes. I had the same problem as others with this one not getting done in the middle. I cooked at 325 for 1 hour, 35 mins, and the middle still wasn't done. I shielded the bread with tin foil after about 45 mins in the oven to keep the top from burning. I was just disappointed about the inconsistency of the loaf after so long in the oven, however, the part that did get done tasted fine. Not "knock your socks off" or anything, but ok. I did enjoy the cinnamon sugar coating that was on the bottom and sides of each piece. :) Ok to try, but I think I'll stick with my tried and true. Thanks though!

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I would give this a 4.5 if that was an option. It was really good, but not "knock-your-socks off" good. It was a super way to use my cucumbers and tomatoes from my garden though. I didn't use much onion as the red onion seemed very strong when I was cutting it. I also used 1/2 apple cider and 1/2 balsamic vinaigrette.

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This was a very yummy way to use my garden corn, and it is a preferable method over grilling. We took the husks almost all the way off, yanked out the silk, and drizzled a mixture of melted butter, tbls of sugar, and about 1 tsp of cilantro on the kernals of each ear and wrapped the husk back over the ear. We wrapped the ear in damp paper towels, and cooked 2 ears for 4 mins, 30 seconds turning halfway through. How EASY and yummy! :)

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This was really, really good! It was beautiful coming out of the oven as well! I used half AP and half bread flour. My hubby and I both thought it needed a little something extra...more sugar perhaps? Some honey butter for dipping would probably do the trick. It just lacked a little sweetness that we missed. Otherwise, easy and delicious! I will make again!
