About this Cook
My husband and I have a hobby farm in Northern New Mexico that we grow many different fruits and vegetables. We raise meat animals and have a hive of honeybees to supply us with honey.
My favorite things to cook
I love taking things from my farm and garden to make homemade versions of things people normally purchase at the store. I also love to make an entire meal just from my farm without having to purchase anything at the store.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My only family cooking tradition was Thanksgiving Dinner where we always made way too much food, mostly just traditional Thanksgiving items like turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and etc.
My cooking triumphs
I love decorating cakes for weddings, birthdays and showers. I would have to say that the challenge a huge cake, beautifully decorated, brings on is far more difficult than preparing any main dish meal.
My cooking tragedies
Washing, cutting and preparing enough green beans for 40 quart jars to find out that my pressure canner had a leaky seal and wouldn't keep pressure. :(

Leah's Chicken with Chickpeas
This was pretty good. I cooked this in a pressure cooker because I hadn't soaked the chickpeas - I used 4 cups of water, 1 cup dry chickpeas, frozen chicken pieces and cooked on high pressure 40 minutes - other than that I followed the recipe as instructed. It wasn't drop dead fantastic but it was a good dinner choice and I will probably make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Amish Macaroni Salad
I made this for our Easter cookout and everyone enjoyed it. I used a 1/2 cup of splenda instead of the sugar and regular mayo instead of m-whip. It was delicious, thanks for the recipe!

Grandman Pork Chops and Rice
Made this for the second time and added a little extra rice and some green chili. It was good, thanks for the recipe.
