About this Cook
I live in upstate NY with my wonderful husband and became a new mom recently to a beautiful, sweet girl.
My favorite things to cook
I like trying new things. I love international dishes-Indian, Mexican, etc. I like finding new things to do with chicken
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and dad had my sister and i do a lot of the prep stuff for their complicated Indian dishes I never got to cook a complete meal but I enjoyed sitting in the kitchen and just talking to my mom and catching up on things and anytime we had a big event coming up b-days or get togethers we'd have family and friends come over and help out...It was a lot of fun and i definitly appreciate it more now that I live away from my family.
My cooking triumphs
My first meal as a new wife was chicken tikka masala...i wanted to impress my husband and i did... a few months later i brought it to a pot luck and everyone said that it was better than the local indian resturant-which is a HUGE compliment and i happily went home with a empty, dry dish. I had a hard time with rice dishes initally, but after a few failures i got pretty good at it...a friend asked me to make a spicy rice dish to a b-day party ..I made two big pots and lots of ppl said it was very tasty and wanted to know how i made it
My cooking tragedies
Rice, initally i just couldn't get it right...i asked a friend over and was making jambalaya and it came out so horrible i felt so bad that we ended up having him over again to make up from the bad meal. I'm grateful he was willing to give me a second chance

Grilled Salmon I
i got an indoor grill recently and wanted to test it out. I found this recipe and it was so easy and sooo good. My husband and i loved it and ate it with grilled vegetables that i marninated in some oil and vinegar.

Chicken Tikka Masala
i can't believe i never rated or reviewed this dih before. this is the first dish i made for my husband after we got married 4 yrs ago and the first dish i made for a pot luck after moving. I decreased the salt as others suggested and it was a hit! PPl were scapping the last bits off at the poyluck i brought it to aand told me it was better than the chicken tikka at the excellent indian resturant in town.
