About this Cook
Writing, reading,
My favorite things to cook
Whatever takes my fancy. Now a days, I tend to look for things easier to put together as I am limited physically. Great on throwing herbs into foods and love anchovies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Old fashioned made from scratch, Scilian Style Spaghetti and Meatballs Great Matzoh Balls and Chicken Soup Jewish Foods
My cooking triumphs
I make the best Chili con Carne west of the Atlantic Ocean but have never wanted to compete in any of those Chili Cook-Offs although everyone who eats my chili tells me to do so.

Cabbage Soup I
When ever I make Ukranian or Russian Cabbage Soup and have no lemon or citric acid, I take a Vitamin C tablet and throw it in. That takes care of the citric acid. Have been using this for years and it really works well.

French Pastry Pie Crust
The same recipe with vinegar in it was given to me many years ago by a French-Canadian friend. I lost it. It is a never-fail ecipe and I am glad to see it again. Thanks

Philly Steak Sandwich
The original Philly Steak Sandwich after WWII did not have any cheese, just very thinnly sliced tenderloin of beef, green pepper and lots of onions. No mayonaisse either. You could get it at a place in South Philly and it was delicious. Even at my "tender" age, I still remember the taste---no cheese, honesly.
