About this Cook
I'm single in my mid- 20's living in Chicago. I love to try new thing and use friends and family as guinea pigs. I like to go out but more and more I'm enjoying staying in and hanging out with friends. But when a good cover band is on the agenda..watch out cause here I come!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make anything with peanut butter and chocolate, I love the creamy texture! I also enjoy cakes, cake decorating, and making anything Italian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is originally from Poland and my grandma lives with my parents. We always make pierogi, cabbage rolls, and other traditional dishes. My favorite is the beet salad
My cooking triumphs
This past year I made Thanksgiving dinner for my family. I did a test run on my friend two weeks before the actual date. Although I thought I was going to cry when the bottom of the blender fell off and about 5 cups of chocolate mousse slipped on the kitchen floor, everything turned out well. I deep fried the turkey and it turned out great. Anytime someone asks for a recipe and when the BF said he'd rather eat at my hosue than at a resaurant.
My cooking tragedies
Although I have make cheesecake plenty of times before, I tried to make it using mini muffin pans. I don't know what I did wrong but everyone of the muffins burnt! I did once make meatballs and left them in the slow cooker over night (I have done this numerous times). However, this time I put it on the low setting instead of the warm setting. Not fun to clean! I also added peppermint to a dark chocolate sauce instead of vanilla. I hoped I couple just full off a mint chocolate cake. DEF not!!! It was like drinking choc milk and Altoids at the same time. I also melt spatulas and kitchen timers like its my job. Last but not least...spilling melted cheese on my hand/wrist.

Waldorf Salad II
I made this for my boyfriend who loved it and said it was like the salad his mom used to make. We added mini marshmellows and added about 1 tablespoon more sugar to the dressing! Thanks for helping me recreate a childhood dish for him!

Apple Pie
HELLOOOO tipsy!! THis drink is awesome. I made a batch for my Thanksgiving and it was gone! I used one gallon of apple juice and 3 smaller contatiners of apple cider so I had a little more than 2 gallons of apple juice/cider. I also added a healthy splash of orange juice and some nutmeg, allspice, and whole cloves. A great recipe! I plan on bottling this for Christmas and giving it as a gift! Thanks for the recipe. Nice amount of booze for a party for about 30 bucks!

Roasted Butternut Squash and Garlic Lasagna
I can't tell you all how good this was!!!! Let's just say that for Thanksgiving I had about 20 different things to eat and this was the only thing that was completely gone. Half the people there said this was their favorite. Here's what I did different: I used 12 noodles instead of 9 and dipped them in boiling water as some of the reviews said the noodles were too hard after baking. I also added more flour since my sauce was not thickening (about 2 tablespoons more). I also added one large sauteed onion to the garlic mix. This dish was beyond good and I'll be making it again and again. I was a little nervous about the heavy cream on top but it was great. I baked the lasagna for about 45 min total and then let it sit for a cpouple of hours (to be timed with dinner) and then warmed it up in the over before serving. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!!!!
