Guy Approved Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
MY GUY DEFINTELY APPROVED :) The name says it all :) I didn't have a couple things so I substituted however I can't wait to try this again with the original ingredients. We loved this. My hubby ate almost the whole meatloaf in a 24 hr time frame..eek..he loved it and he's not crazy about reg.meatloaf. Here are my changes: 1 cup crushed potato chips (I used corn flakes) 1 pinch cayenne pepper ( I used 2 pinches) 6 slices bacon (Omitted due to having none on hand) This tastes so good fresh baked :) Thanks for posting this. It is our new meatloaf recipe.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
I used 1/2 stick butter and 1/2 cup flour and that seemed to work out just fine for thickness for us. I also added garlic powder, onion powder and a touch of cayenne. I did use one small white onion (I was out of green) but added some chives to make up for that. I used colby jack cheese (all I had on hand) This was a very good tasting soup and I'll happily make again. Thank you so much.

Grandpa Hubbard's Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Very good. My kids ate seconds even. I used about 1/2 cup of powdered dairy creamer and 3/4 cup milk and added cinnamon and raisins and a touch more brown sugar and butter to the whole pot instead of doing it to portions and it tasted great. Creamy & flavorful. Thanks so much for this easily adaptable recipe. This would be great with any fruit. Updates: I used strawberries for a a strawberries and cream taste and it was delicious as well. I have used frozen mixed berries with great success as well. When I do not have the dairy creamer I have substituted using Milk or even powdered milk. This is the creamiest tasting oatmeal. I really enjoy it.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Very Moist and very good taste. Rave reviews in my house :) I took the advice of others and reduced the amount of oil called for but I felt it still needed more than the lowered amount recommended so I went in between and used 3/4 cup oil (I used corn oil and it worked great) and I upped the cinnamon to 3 tsp and lowered the sugar to 1 1/2 cups white sugar. This batter is thick as mentioned in the recipe. I used it in a 9x13 pan and it was perfect. It released from the pan easily (I greased & floured the pan) Great way to use up apples that you have on hand. (I used 5 average sized granny smith) Thanks for the wonderful recipe.

Strawberry Cake and Frosting II

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I made this into 2 9" round cakes last night and it tasted wonderful. I think next time we'll leave out the coconut since we prefer the texture of the cake without it. The only thing that I did differently was I did not add nuts and actually added more coconut than called for and I used a different icing. I made a chocolate buttercream icing and topped the cake with strawberries dipped in chocolate and small chocolate ribbons & toasted coconut. Thanks for this wonderful recipe :) withsome tweaking to our personal preferences I think this recipe is a keeper for my family.

Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
This was my first time baking a chocolate cheesecake and it couldn't have been easier or tastier. I loved it and so did my family & guests. I didn't use caramels on the crust but instead used Caramel Sundae Syrup and generously drizzled it all over the crust before adding the filling. It was not messy and very easy to do. The tips about the water pan under the cheesecake and the cooling in the cake worked perfectly. Thank you so much for a divine recipe.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
Delicious. Our family of 6 enjoyed this meal. *Some things that I did to help speed things up for dinner time: Used one large pan and threw all of the butter, onions, garlic, seasonings, chicken (used boiled chicken from the day before that was refrigerated) into the pan all at once...Once everything was sauted I removed it from the pan and added my flour mixture to make the roux, then added the milk mixture and once the sauce had thickened I added the cheese mixture (I used mozzerella & Parm *what I had on hand*)once that melted and incorporated I added the chicken mixture back in and stirred until incorporated and then added the sour cream. I topped this with crushed Butter Crackers (ie: townhouse, ritz, etc) and if you're in a real hurry you can make this in the afternoon for sure (that's what I did) I just left it in the pan and reheat at dinner time by adding a touch of milk to loosen the mixture & thats when you boil the noodles and combine the mixture if desired or top the noodles with the mixture. I used macaroni noodles to make it easier for the kids. Definitely will make again. I served this with the Cheese Herb Bread on this site which complimented it very well. I did leave out the mushrooms (didn't have any) and replaced the italian seasoning (didn't have any) with Mrs.Dash onion & herb seasoning & 1 TBSP garlic powder, only used 3 boneless skinless breasts,no tomatoes (was out of them) and I replaced the Colby-Jack Cheese with Mozzerella (all I had on hand).

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
Great recipe and honestly wasn't too hard to make with the help of my kitchenaid and the dough hook. I used bread machine yeast (all I had on hand)and it worked just fine for me. I also increased the raisins from 1 cup to 2 cups and am glad that I did. This would be great with a glaze as well. My husband made french toast with these yesterday and he said they were great tasting. I didn't get to try them but thought I'd mention that. Thank you for sharing the wonderfully easy recipe.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Excellent! Thank you so much for a great recipe. It rose to the perfect height. I think it's the perfect white bread for sandwiches and to compliment dinner. I took other reviewers suggestions and used 1.5 Tsp salt instead of 1 Tsp. Yum!

Excellent Cookie! This is my new favorite. Goodbye Toll House. Finally a cookie that is delicious and perfect and stays chewy inside long after it has been added to the container. I hate a crisp hard cookie. This one has a nice crisp edge but is chewy in every other way. Thank you sooooo much for sharing this recipe. I made these last night and I can't stay out of them :-D

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
A good cookie that was different. I wouldn't classify it as my favorite cookie "and I do love chocolate and cherries" but it was definitely tasty. I followed the recipe exactly. These are also good just by themselves without the cherries & added chocolate. They form a soft cake like cookie.

Italian Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
Great bread recipe. It was a little sticky once I removed it from the bread machine so I just left it all in one large loaf and it baked just perfectly. I did add 1/2 tsp-1 tsp of each garlic powder, italian seasoning, onion & herb seasoning by Mrs.Dash. It was heavenly and had the perfect amount of flavor. It is without a doubt a 5 star recipe I did leave out the seeds as well. We had this with Lasagna.

Sweet and Sour Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
Thanks to whomever said to add the 1/2 packet of onion soup mix that made the meatloaf full of flavor. The meatloaf is great and moist but blah on the sauce. It is tooooooo sweet! I felt like I was eating sugar. I like a sweet and sour flavor but that too me was more sweet. I did eventually end up doctoring it up to make it more edible but next time I think I'll make this meatloaf with the onion soup packet (oh and I used real onions) and just leave off the sauce. I'd rather have the ketchup flavored sauces myself. All in all I'd give it a 4 because the main part of the meal was great! Skip the sauce or cut back on the sugar maybe???

Chicken Crunch

This was a great quick meal. My family enjoyed it. I had to substitute the cream of chicken for cream of mushroom as that was all that I had on hand. I would make this again when I am in a pinch for a quick meal.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Oh Yum! What a delicious crust this was! My kids even said it was better than the pizza ordered out :) Thank you very much! I'm without a doubt keeping this one and btw...I froze 8 individual size pizza crusts (using double the recipe) w/wax paper in between each and as mentioned in other reviews this works wonderfully :) 1/2 tsp italian seasoning 1/4 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (The best and easiest way to add herbs is to mix them into the olive oil before you add it to the batter - that will ensure even distribution throughout the entire dough.) Next time I'm going to add the olive oil and garlic pwdr and or cayenne to the edges of the crust and sprinkle the pan with cornmeal (jiffy) to give it that perfect crisp bottom. I forgot this time but normally do that. However I will say this crust recipe is awesome and cooking it as it is I'm sure would still be just as great the seasonings just add another wonderful flavor dimension to the already great recipe :) Update: I make this pizza crust regularly in my house and it always is a hit. My family loves it and it is a permanent staple in our house :) TY again for such a wonderful recipe.

Beef Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I am enjoying the dish right now. I had made it for dinner (early) and decided that I'd like to taste it for lunch and it's a very flavorful dish. Leaps and Bounds better than any box hamburger helper. I did have to do a few things different. First I didn't have egg noodles but used elbow noodles in it's place. I didn't have creamed corn so I used regular canned corn and drained it and added a can of cheddar cheese soup. I also added a little extra salt and also added garlic powder. I omitted the pimentos since I didn't have them on hand. I still would imagine this recipe to be just as good if I had made it according to directions. Thanks for the recipe it has just the right amount of heat for me and I really enjoyed this dish and I'm sure my 4 kids and husband will as well.

Raspberry Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Easy and fun to make. This would be a great kid friendly recipe. I made it alone but could see how this would be something my 4 young children could even make. I used strawberry preserves since that's all that I had on hand and used the lemon juice in place of water, also I didn't have the quick oats so I used the long cooking ones and just soaked them in a little water for a few minutes and then pressed the water out of them before adding to the cake mix and butter mixture. This worked perfectly. My family enjoyed them. Thank you!

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Wow! Fresh out of the oven and slightly cripsy and ooey gooey chewy on the inside. I just loved this cookie. I could only eat 2 and I am a sweet food junkie most days so that's saying alot lol. They are rich and delicious. I may put a few less chips in next time but not sure as they were just wonderful even still. The only thing different that I did was add 1/2 tsp salt to the butter mixture and 1/2 tsp baking powder to the flour mixture. These cookies were the pefect thickness (not too thin or thick) and they did not spread even without freezing or flash freezing the dough. That's a great benefit as well. I froze 3 small logs (enough for each to make 12 cookies) and ate 1 log fresh. Thanks for a wonderful recipe that I'll continue to use. My family loved them. Update: 2/18/08: I made these for a chocolate fellowship at church last night and the recipe allowed me to yeild 60 cookies total and they were all gone quickly. Still one of my favorite recipes.
