About this Cook
I adore cooking, adore my husband, my son, my family, my friends (who are my family). My home is always open, and always filled, with my friends and their kids. I love true crime, historical novels, and of course cook books.
My favorite things to cook
I don't have a favorite, I love to cook so many things. If my husband and son love it, it's a keeper.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Passed down from generations, snapping beans together. Sounds silly, but I'm from the south! Trying something new and exciting every holiday. No more turkeys or hams, pass the prime rib or the chicken cordon bleu.

Spiced Butternut Squash Soup
I've been using this recipe for over a year now, about time I rated! This is the most wonderful soup in the universe. It makes so much, but I never have to throw a bit away, it always gets eaten. The only thing I do differently is use sweet potatoes in lieu of the white potatoes. Thanks so much for this wonderful comfort soup.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds with Sugar and Spice
I really wasn't crazy about this at all. Too much sugar, too sweet, not a nice presentation.

Yellow Squash Casserole
This is just like Maw-maw used to make. For people that think the squash is too soggy, don't steam it too much before making the casserole, make it al dente, for lack of a better word. If you want the dish more sturdy, add another egg. This casserole is nothing short of comfort food, and my Thanksgiving table will never be without it.
