Penne with Asparagus and Mushrooms

I altered the recipe and it was amazing and better than any restaurant 'pink sauce.' I sauted shallots with garlic, and used reduced fat sour cream instead of cream (thanks to the other reviewer for that suggestion) and then added 1/2 tub of crumbled gorgonzola. Amazing! Next time I will make this sauce for gnocchi.

Salmon Chowder

Very easy and good. I browned some thick, smoked bacon with the onions, celery and fresh garlic. Gave it a wonderful smokey taste. fresh salmon is also the way to go.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

I don't think I'll ever buy a scone again! These were great, cakey scones - I made one with mini-choc chips and orange zest and another with lemon zest and fresh raspberries. For the raspberries, I rolled out the dough, laid the raspberries out across half of the dough and folded over. They came out with the berries in the middle just like Starbucks.

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts II

I love bacon and waterchestnuts, but this recipe didn't quite work out. Maybe if I marinated the waterchestnuts a bit longer (overnight), that may have made a difference. Everyone devoured it, but I think because it was a strange flavor vs. such a great flavor.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Could not have been better or easier! I made two batches - one with 1 1/2 t. of dried lavender and zest of a lemon and the other with almond extract rather than vanilla. Both were delicious! I will probably frost them too as I want to do something extra on the top, but they don't need the frosting for taste... perfect with the hint of the other herbs/tastes I added.

Lemon Sorbet

Very easy and good - I doubled the recipe, used lemon zest and 3/4 cup of lemon juice and 1/4 limeade. I also added 1 T vodka to the stovetop part to try to make it not so solid ice, and it seemed to make a difference. Will make it again when I have extra lemons.

Mushroom Crescents

Was a hit - didn't like it at first, but let the flavors sit overnight and made a nice difference. I changed it up a bit -made crust in pie-pan with crescent rolls, used wild mushrooms and added dillweed vs. the other seasonings. Put some strips of crescent on the top crisscrossed. People gobbled it up in 5 minutes. I think using wild mushrooms made a huge difference and I don't think it would be as good with regular mushrooms.

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Wonderful! I halved the onions & apples and kept the sauce the same, and it was fantastic. As one person suggested, I cooked the sausage (italian) in dark beer, but not sure if it made a difference or not. I served this with mashed potatoes (made with potatoes, 1 C. sour cream and 8 oz onion/chive cream cheese). Fantastic, easy meal.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Very good - but I would add a bit more jalapeno next time. It makes a ton of dip too, so I think I'll half it as there were 10 adults at the party (and 2 other apps) and we ate only about 1/4 of the dip (although people loved it).

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Very easy and delicious. I also used whole wheat flour for 1/2 of the flour. Gave this away to the neighbors for Christmas and everyone raved. Very moist and I was able to make 6 loaves (medium sized) easily in one evening.

Pretzel Turtles

I didn't think they were very special, but everyone else at the party loved them and thought there were dangerously addictive. I don't think I'd make them again though as I thought they wer just ok. Incredibly easy and quick to make.
