About this Cook
I am a mother of three beautiful kids, and am married to the most wonderful man. I am a fulltime college student and am majoring in social science.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. But I hardly get to try anything new because my husband is really picky. I'm hoping to find some recipes that he will like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma used to cook for a sorority and I woould go sit with her in the kitchen when I was little. I remember rainy days when the kitchen was warm and the smell of the breads and things filled the air. One of the things that she would make for the girls on cold days is Russian tea. It has always been a favorite of mine so now that I am older, I make it for my family when the weather turns cold.
My cooking triumphs
I don't really have any specific triumphs. I used to be a full menu cook at a diner in my hometown and had to cook anything from grilled cheese sandwiches to primerib, to liver and onions. So, I have a wide array of foods that I can cook. Having young kids makes it hard to make anything exquisite. Once in a while I wll add a little extra to the slowcooker when I make a roast, or I will make a dry rub for my marinaded steaks, but that is usually when the kids are visiting their dad.
My cooking tragedies
I have one tragedy inparticular. My exhusband and I had just moved back to my hometown and my parents were kind enough to let us stay with them until we got a place of our own. So, I had offered to make dinner for them. well I was going to make beef rollups and had gotten everything done and it was dinner time. When I took them out of the oven, I noticed they looked a little different then my moms always did. When my dad took a bite of his, he got a funny look on his face but kept eating. I tasted mine and realized that I had totally failed. I had accidentally put baking soda in the biscut recipe instead of baking powder and had put in too much on top of it. I haven't made it for him since and whenever my mom makes it, they remind me jovially about my wonderful bakingsoda biscuts.

Chinese Fried Noodles
This is a very good recipe. I had to use angel hair pasta because my ramen noodles had weavils in them, grrrr! Also, I used frozed chinese vegetable mix instead of the fresh veggies to save time. I also used stirfry sauce in place of the soysauce along with the seasoning packets from the ramen noodles. My entire family enjoyed it. That doesn't happen very often!
