About this Cook
I'm newly married, and I'm so excited about finding new and amazing recipes to cook. I work as a Personal Assistant. Also, we volunteer about 70 hours a month teaching deaf people more about the Bible in Sign Language. Current goal is trying to contact as many deaf as we can to give them the Bible on DVD published in full sign language at no cost. We truly enjoy doing this.
My favorite things to cook
Anything interesting, or not your usual recipe. We love recipes from different cultures as well. IE: Thai, Indian, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything Italian!
My cooking tragedies
Lime garlic chicken. It was our first meal as a newly married couple, and the chicken was barely chewable! I had to grind it up and make chicken salad. So sad.

Caribbean Grilled Crab Cakes
This was a wonderful recipe. Following my tradition, I stuck closely to the directions and ingredients so that I could give it a fair review after. I used canned crabmeat because it was a lot cheaper, and I also used light mayo to cut down on the calories. For anyone else, I would suggest making the salsa with more mango and less onion. The onion amount was a little overpowering, and we stunk afterwards! I think you can also cut down a lot on the mayo amount--just throw two heaping teaspoons in there, and it will be fine. This is one of the few recipes that takes just a little work, and somehow ends up tasting spectacular. I would even call this recipe "company worthy." One tip--my bowl of crab mixture did NOT make 16 regular crabcakes--it only made 7 small cakes that had medium to low size thickness. The length of the cakes was about the length of the bottom of a water bottle.) It was enough for me and my husband, but if you're cooking for a family, I would suggest doubling the recipe. This is a great recipe to make when you don't have too much time to cook. You can also adjust some things to make it more healthy--ie: light mayo, wheat breadcrumbs, etc. This was a fulfilling meal that did not make us feel lethargic--we were able to go the gym soon after eating. Thanks for posting this!

Apple Peanut Spinach Salad
This was a delightful salad! The flavor fusion of the apples, peanuts, and curry in the dressing was perfect. I followed this recipe to the "T" the first time. The second time, I experimented, and added some strawberries, cheese cubes, and dried cranberries. It's great either way no matter what you add. Follow the dressing recipe closely--it's a wonderful flavor. I usually end up making double or triple amount of the dressing. Thanks for posting this recipe!

It's Chili by George!!
I am a big believer in following recipes on this site to the "T" so that I can give it a very fair review. Well, I did follow this recipe exactly--didn't add anything or take away. Here are my results: TOO MUCH TOMATO JUICE! It literally tasted like hot tomato juice. The juice drowned out all the other things that were in the chili. I couldn't even tell you what the flavors were. If you did make this, I would say take away at least half of the tomato juice.
