I have had this recipe for years. I highly recommend adding 2 tablespoons of orange juice or apple juice for a little bit extra. So yummy!!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
Absolutely delicious cake! I made it into a Black Forest Cake by adding a large can of cherry pie filling in the center of my 2 layers. I also topped it off by making the fudge icing and dropping a few cherries on top for decoration. I did take the advice of another on here and stuck it in the freezer for 10 minutes so it could handle better. It did not fall apart but the center fell a little. It was nothing the fudge topping could not cover though. The party I made it for raved over it. I will most definitely make this again.

My kids loved it and I thought it was alright. I think I might have screwed up though because I found it kind of salty.

Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
This dish was excellent. The only things I did different were I used Dijon mustard instead of prepared(it was all I had and it tasted great!!), I did not add mushrooms because my family does not eat them and I used italian diced tomatoes. YUMMY!! This dish was very much liked and will be used again!!

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
This dish was great! Although I pulled the lazy route and did not fry the chicken or use any flour. Instead I sauteed the chicken with onion and bell pepper. I did triple the sauce and I added the sauce when the chicken was fully cooked (sesame seeds were in the sauce). I then lowered the heat and cooked on medium low for about 20 minutes, letting the chicken absorb the sauce. I served it over white rice. It was wonderful! Even my picky kids loved it. Defo will cook again!

Eggnog Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
Wow o wow o wow..... First let me start off if you are an eggnog lover then this is the cake for you! I followed the recipe to the T except I changed the rum extract to 1 teaspoon instead of a half a teaspoon. This cake is extremely rich in flavor and oh so decadent. I made this for my great uncles birthday and everyone raved about it! I was told I must make it again. I am going to be making this for our church Christmas party this weekend. Thanks for an awesome recipe!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
My mother brought me back a bunch of green apples from an orchard and I decided it was time for me to make a pie. I prepared my own crust and went looking for an apple pie recipe. I followed the instructions but added a few touches. First I dashed the apples with extra cinnamon and mixed until coated. Then I added a teaspoon of vanilla and 2 tablespoons Captain's Morgan Rum to the mix. It smelled similar to my banana's foster. Then I poured 2/3 of the mixture over the apples before I did the latice crust. After I did the crust I poured the rest over it. I baked it in the oven at 350 for 55 minutes. It turned out great!! Yum!!

Cornflake Waffles with Honey Sauce

These were very good. The whole family loved them. We made them for brinner (breakfast for dinner) and they were excellent. I did not make the sauce though. Next time I will for sure.

Banana Pancakes I

When I made this recipe I thought they were great. But as I was cooking them my son asked me why I did not add any cinnamon. So I quickly dashed cinnamon in the remaining batter and it was even better!! Great recipe!!

Chicken and Corn Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
This recipe was excellent. My husband loved it! I used a teaspoon of minced garlic on top of the garlic powder because we love garlic and I just used non name brand chunky salsa. I was surprised on how delicious this was. I threw everything in the pot for quickness and 6-8 hours later.. YUM!! Of course I did add a little bit more cumin and chili powder. But its all up to you on taste. :o)

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
This recipe is the best!! I followed a lot of the other reviews and made a double batch using a 9x13 pan(36 servings). I only used 4 eggs instead of the 6 and omited the baking powder so they would be less cake like and more fudge like. I sprinkled chocolate chips on top before I stuck in the oven and I baked them for 45 minutes. They were so chewy and rich!! It was almost like dark fudge with that extra little crunch with the chocolate chips. My family actually prefered them cold too the next day out of the fridge and my coworkers begged me for the recipe!!

Amaretto Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
I made this cheesecake exactly as posted. Do not get me wrong, it did not taste bad. It was extremely too dense and did not taste like cheesecake or amaretto. I do not even know how to describe the taste. All I can say is I am disappointed. Amaretto cheesecake is my favorite flavor. But I do not recommend this recipe. I will not even attempt it again. I tried to give it away and no one even wanted it.
