About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to make just about any sweet treat, especially if it involves cinnamon, chocolate, or butterscotch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always bake cookies each Christmas that lasts me throughout the holiday season for different parties and family gatherings. I usually set aside one weekend in December to do this and look forward to it all holiday season. my sister and i used to bake with our mom for a fun activity when we were little, which is where my love of baking started.
My cooking triumphs
I was in the middle of making a coffee cake for work when I discovered I was out of oil. I simply substituted melted vanilla ice cream for the oil and it received more compliments than when I made it previously with the original ingredients.
My cooking tragedies
I wanted to make a special dinner for my first wedding anniversary. Instead of boiling the potatoes for homemade mashed potatoes, I baked them in the oven because I heard it would make the potato flavor stronger. Well, one thing it did not do was soften the potatoes; when I put them in the bowl and turned on the mixer, potato chunks, milk, and melted butter went flying everywhere! I was so upset, but when my husband saw what happened he started laughing, and before long, I joined in too. Bless his heart, he even ate some of the potatoes (which were definitely NOT good), because he knew how hard I worked.

Praline Cake
Anything with brown sugar, butter and yellow cake mix is a winner with me and this did not disappoint me! I did make a few minor changes; I substituted toffee chips for the pecans (just a personal preference), and mixed together a thin glaze of milk, powdered sugar and a touch of cinnamon, pokes holes in the cake just after taking it out of the oven and poured the glaze over top before topping with the brown sugar mix. Delicious!

Quick Chicken And Wine
Very easy and very tasty; a great recipe to make after a long day at work when you want something good but don't want to spend the whole night cooking. Thanks for a good addition to my recipe file!

Cowboy Casserole
I actually have not even made this recipe yet, but it is the same ingredients that was in a casserole my mom used to make when I was little! She unfortunately had lost the recipe and when I saw this I knew it was it. I cannot wait to try it!
