About this Cook
I have just recently decided that I need to start cooking and learning how to cook. Don't get me wrong it's not like I have never cooked I just haven't really enjoyed it. So I have decided that if I learn how to do it better and put some effort into it I will like it and start doing it more. So that is why I am here... to learn from others and try new things. So here I go....
My favorite things to cook
I love to make Mexican food probably because I grew up in New Mexico and I can make it the best out of all the other thing I make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas Eve the girls in my family either make a traditional Mexican food dinner or we go out to A traditional Mexican food restaurant Francisco's. And on Christmas Eve Eve the Men in the family have recently started their own tradition they make us a surf and turf dinner yum they did really good last Christmas!
My cooking triumphs
Ok so this is pretty lame considering but I made a baked ziti recipe from the Taste of Home magazine and it was sooooo good and everybody loved it!!
My cooking tragedies
Ok when I was in 7th grade I took a Home-Ec class and we were making cookies, well I read the recipe and it called for 1 1/2 cups of flour so I added one half cup of flour, and continued with the recipe. I baked the cookies like I was suppossed to but they did not turn out as you can imagine. The home-ec teacher came over and looked at them and said huh well it dosen't look like you added enough flour didn't you put it in like the recipe said. I replied yes just like the recipe said one one half cup she said oh no Brooke that is one and a half cups ooohhhh I said well that is why they didn't work. So after that I pretty much gave up cooking because I was embarassed and it became a family joke and everytime I would cook that story would pretty much come up. It is a pretty funny story though, but I think I am ready to attempt cooking again!
