About this Cook
I have worked with senior citizens for years. I am married & have 2 adult sons, 1 adult daughter, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson (5 months old). I love country living. I'm always busy with something or other. I still work full time plus part-time and volunteer.
My favorite things to cook
New dishes, things that seem gourmet but are easy and don't require a large number of ingredients, family favorites, most anything except yeast breads or pie crusts--I never got the hang of those.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditional holiday meals; grilling, barbecueing, etc.; chocolate pizza for Christmas; Southern comfort food. My husband cooks a lot.
My cooking triumphs
I don't know that I've had any real triumphs. My family and friends usually like my food. Most recently they raved about my country style venison.
My cooking tragedies
Christmas day the turkey had been in the oven just about 45 minutes when the power went off. None of the other dishes for dinner had been started. Not knowing how long the power would be off we started out to find a restaurant. Only Waffle House was open. Christmas dinner at Waffle House is NOT traditional, but our family may make it a tradition.

Butternut Squash Soup
Wonderful, rich soup! Cook the squash (halved) before you try to peel and cube it. You can bake, boil or microwave it.

Alfredo Blue
This was good, except I like a lot of cheese taste. I added an extra 2 ounces of bleu cheese to my leftovers and reheated. This was more to my liking. Next time I will just double the amount of bleu cheese in the recipe.

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!
This is pretty close to my favorite Bleu Cheese Dressing served in a deli in NC. They don't give out their recipe. It was handed down by "Gran" the now deceased matriarch, who, by the way, was a wonderful person as well as a wonderful cook. I didn't change a thing!
