Reading Books
I was first drawn to cooking due to my fondness for spatulas. I find the smooth caress of a spatula against my skin to be a sensual pleasure to which no fork, knife, spoon, cheese grater nor corkscrew bears comparison.
Sometimes I sellotape spatulas to my body.
My favorite things to cook
Virtually anything.I get the most satisfaction out of baking, or making desserts. Chocolate cakes, brownies, cookies etc. are all splendid.
As for main dishes, I suppose I cook quite a lot of Asian (or at least Asian-influenced) food; curries, stir-fries and so on. Generally though I just like to cook. Anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, my mum makes a top-notch chilli.
Oh, and my auntie knows the recipe for soylent green.
My cooking triumphs
I made a cheesecake which actually worked once; that was quite good. I gave some of it to some old people. They seemed to like it. Unless they were just being friendly because I'd broken into their retirement flat with a plate of cheesecake and were secretly waiting for a moment to call the police.
My cooking tragedies
I wouldn't really describe anything that I've cooked as a tragedy. Sometimes things taste bad; it's hardly Romeo and Juliet.
However, and let me emphasise this point using capital letters: NON-STICK FRYING PANS WHICH HAVE LOST THEIR NON-STICK COATING ARE THE TOOLS OF THE DEVIL.
