I love food. I love trying new and exotic foods just as much and as often as I love eating simple, life-long favorites.
My favorite things to cook
I love creating new recipes using obscure ingredients- but I also have a huge spot in my heart for comfort foods! Pot pies, mac and cheese and other cassaroles, etc.
My cooking triumphs
From scratch butternut squash stuffed ravioli in a sage butter sauce.
My cooking tragedies
Vegan Thanksgiving 2004. I made a from scratch seitan loaf (it took me 6 hours to prepare!!) and a tofu based banana/chocolate swirl "cheesecake". My mother stifled laughter at the sight of my hard work (the seitan loaf looked like feces- I had to laugh too). It's still brought up at every Thanksgiving dinner. Need I say more?
