About this Cook
I love all kinds of foods, but I am particular about how they are prepared. So I learned how to cook in order to "have it my way". I also love cats, making beaded jewelry, and talking.
My favorite things to cook
Hard to choose, but I do love to make spaghetti, crockpot dishes, soups, and stews. There is so much room for creativity in these types of dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean, Italian.
My cooking triumphs
My husband is finicky. When we met, he said he did not like a number of foods. Garbanzo beans and tomatoes cooked in a dish were two of the foods he did not like. My greatest triumph was when I made "Spiced Garbanzos with Tomatoes" and he ate 3 helpings!
My cooking tragedies
When I create a recipe we love, then cannot remember what I put in it!

Peanut Butter Cornflake Crunch Bars
Exactly the recipe I was looking for! I just finished making some and as a variation, put some chocolate chips in the bottom of pan before spreading the peanut butter/corn flake mix onto it. The heat melts the chips and they fuse onto the bars. Yum, chocolate and peanut butter. I learned to make these in a high school cooking class and loved them. All I could remember after all these years was 1 cup of peanut butter and 1 cup corn syrup. I thought it was for 5 cups of corn flakes...and 1/2 cup sugar...so glad I found this recipe!

Lebkuchen V
Having been stationed in Germany many years ago, I fell in love with lebkuchen. I have tried many recipes over the years and this is one of the better ones. I did not change a thing and am quite happy with the results. Thank you for this recipe and a chance at bringing back some very pleasant memories.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie
I made this pie to take to Thanksgiving dinner at a friend's house. It was a hit! It was so good, that most of it disappeared that day. So, I had to make another one for a weekend get-together with some other friends...One of which did not previously like pecan pie. She says the bourbon made the difference by countering the sweetness. I will be making this one again and again. The only thing I changed was to take a tip from previous reviewers to put the chocolate chips on bottom rather than in the mix.
