In my household it is just the two of us - my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend will pretty much eat anything I cook, and he's perfectly fine with left overs - which we often have plenty of since I tend to cook more than we can eat on any given night.Monday night we made Flatlander chili. The chili… MORE

So the woman we rent a room from brought home a huge bag of tiny, overripe bananas. Apparently someone at her work gave them to her to take home. Now, the woman we rent a room from does not cook usually, and I can't really say I've seen her eat a whole ton of fruit. So two days after she's had… MORE

About Me
I'm in school and I love to read, write, and cook when I'm not feeling too tired (I work two part-time jobs, go to school at night, and have a boyfriend to take care of!).
My favorite things to cook
Right now I'm trying and making various things but here are a few dishes I'm sure to cook at least once a month: Rolled Enchilada's, Lasagna, Slow-Cooker Pot Roast, various chicken and rice recipes, and lots of pasta (because it's generally cheap!).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother has lived on a farm for most of my life, and she is the one who has taught me the basics of how to cook. She used shorting, lard, stored pig fat, farm fresh eggs, etc. in all her cooking. I like the fresh eggs part, but I find that I like to use less fat in my cooking and more healthy stuff. I still love her homemade jelly's and jams. And you can't beat her baking.
My cooking triumphs
Growing up my mother made THE WORST roast. I hated roasts. I couldn't even enjoy left over cold roast beef sandwiches like everyone else who ate roasts got to enjoy - it was just a terribly rough gross tasting piece of meat. Now, I've discovered how to make THE BEST pot roast and my boyfriend and I eat it about twice a month - with lots of left over cold roast beef sandwiches. I'm so glad I can now enjoy roast!
My cooking tragedies
My boyfriend and I rent a room from a woman in OA - Over-eaters Annon. Her vice, potatoes. My boyfriend and I love potatoes. We never get to have potatoes at home, I collect recipes on here all the time for when she's on vacation and we can use the kitchen to make all the potatoes we want! She needs to go on vacation more...
