Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
Realized part way through making that my sesame oil had gone bad so improvised and fried up a couple pieces of bacon, used the drippings and then broke the bacon up into bits into the rice. Delish! Thank you for a great recipe :)

Add more butter, cinnamon and brown sugar - cooked in 9x13 pan, patted well with milk before putting in the oven. Turned out great!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
The only changes I made to this was adding some extra cheese (about 1/2c to the sauce and a bit extra sprinkled on top)and a bit of garlic to the sauce. I decided to make them in a greased 9x13 pan instead of a casserole dish - will now always make make potatoes that way - much more even cooking and nice browness on the bottom) I removed the foil about 15 minutes before they were done to get that yummy golden top. These are great comfort food, can't wait to have the leftovers in my lunch tomorrow. Hubby actually had 3 helpings at supper! Will definitely be making these again!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
This turned out fantastic! I was a little nervous not adding liquid but since I was going to be home while it was cooking I took the chance, and it was great! The juices from the ham quickly adding enough liquid to the pot. I had about a 4lb smoked ham so I used half the brown sugar and cooked for about 4 hrs on low. Someone said not to use smoked ham but I cannot see why, it turned out great! This added a nice delicious sweetness to ham but nothing overpowering at all. Will definitely be making my hams like this from now on. Thanks for the great super easy recipe!!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
Made the recipe as written, turned out fantastic! My husband and I both really enjoyed them. It was my first time trying Sloppy Joes without using Manwich. I did find it had a little bit of a sweeter taste than Manwich though - while it was great I think next time I might leave out the brown sugar and try some yummy bbq sauce instead as some other suggested.(wanted to make the "real" recipe first and then try some experimenting) We will definitely be making these again!!

PHILLY Slow-Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
This turned out terrible, I made exactly as directed (even used the herb & garlic cream cheese), cooked on high in my slow cooker for 4 hours. Personally I thought it was horrible - the beef just ended up with this weird gross flavor to it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was my husband thought it was o.k, I took one bite and threw my plate out, very disappointing. Sorry but will not make again.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
This tuned out fantastic! The only changes I made was I used green onion instead of the regular onion, and light mayo. Next time I think I will peel the potatoes but that's just a personal preference, and I might use half mayo half miracle whip to add a little zing. Will definitely be making this again!!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
I don't know where I went wrong, I followed the recipe and measurements exactly and they were so thick I could not scoop them into the pan properly, I added extra milk to thin them out - they turned out very thick and pasty tasting. All we could taste was flour - unfortunately they all ended up in the garbage : (

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
This turned out fantastic! Didn't bother with the foil on the bottom as others suggested, I sprayed the pan however it did sorta burn a bit to the bottom, next time I will try it with foil on the bottom and see if that makes a difference at all. I think this recipe is great as is but can be tweaked with any extra ingedients that you or your family might like. Hubby and I decided next time to add some fresh mushrooms and thinly sliced green pepper and maybe some pepperoni. Definitely one of those recipes you can play around with. Thanks for the great recipe!

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
This turned out really yummy! I used light sour cream, light old cheddar & half fat cream of chicken. I had to use half cheddar and half mozza (ran out of cheddar). I decided to try it with the French's onions instead of cornflakes and man it was delicious! I baked it lid on for 45 then sprinkled with the onions and baked uncovered for about 15 mins. Could have actually stayed in the oven a little longer. Will definetely be making this one again.

Chutney Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
I made this for supper tonight, I followed just the recipe itself (minus adding any salt). I used mango chutney and just wasn't crazy about the combination of the chutney and onion soup mix, it just seemed too strong tasting of a sauce. Just not for us I suppose.

Baked Buffalo Wings

These turned out yummy. I used about 2 tsp of cayenne and PC Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce instead of the butter/Frank's. They turned out nice and crispy with a nice yummy spicy flavour. Hubby raved about them. Would make these again :)

Creamy Vegetable Medley

Yummy way to spruce up veggies! I used fresh broccoli, cauliflower & baby carrots and used low fat cream of mushroom soup. Would probably make this again as a weeknight dinner side dish. Probably not something I would make for company.

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
This was a great hearty meal that was quick and easy to throw together. The only changes I made was that I used cream of mushroom and garlic soup (as another reviewer suggested) and threw in some fresh sliced mushrooms. I was careful not to overcook so that the potatoes would not turn to mush - and it was done cooking on low in about 5.5 hrs. I thought it turned out great and hubby agrees :)
