My Baked Buffalo Wings ready for the oven
Yummy Cheesy Baked Spaghetti
About this Cook
I am a 27 year old newly wed always trying to create new dishes for my hubby. He also enjoys cooking (but not quite as much as me!) As we know good food is the way to a man's heart :) I'm am always trying to improve my cooking and increase the difficulty of the recipes I try. I'm usually trying to find quick yummy recipes for busy working days and enjoy spending time cooking and baking on my days off.
My favorite things to cook
*Low calorie quick meals *Comfort foods *Trying different pasta dishes
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, quite often on a weekend my Mom would make her famous spaghetti sauce, she would start a huge pot of it early in the morning and let it simmer away all day with her fresh homemade meatballs. By supper time after smelling her delicious sauce waver through the house all day, there was no better comfort food that a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Now that I live far from home, she still makes up a big pot of sauce for us and freezes it into containers and brings it when she comes to visit! I'm going to have to learn to make her sauce sometime :)
My cooking triumphs
My very first time making a meal for company, back about 4 years ago, we had my future inlaws over for supper. I made chicken parmesean, pasta and garlic bread and they all raved about it. I think thats when I realized I can actually cook and make good meals for people.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too traumatic to date, but this always has the potential to change lol

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes
The only changes I made to this was adding some extra cheese (about 1/2c to the sauce and a bit extra sprinkled on top)and a bit of garlic to the sauce. I decided to make them in a greased 9x13 pan instead of a casserole dish - will now always make make potatoes that way - much more even cooking and nice browness on the bottom) I removed the foil about 15 minutes before they were done to get that yummy golden top. These are great comfort food, can't wait to have the leftovers in my lunch tomorrow. Hubby actually had 3 helpings at supper! Will definitely be making these again!

Slow Cooker Ham
This turned out fantastic! I was a little nervous not adding liquid but since I was going to be home while it was cooking I took the chance, and it was great! The juices from the ham quickly adding enough liquid to the pot. I had about a 4lb smoked ham so I used half the brown sugar and cooked for about 4 hrs on low. Someone said not to use smoked ham but I cannot see why, it turned out great! This added a nice delicious sweetness to ham but nothing overpowering at all. Will definitely be making my hams like this from now on. Thanks for the great super easy recipe!!

Sloppy Joes II
Made the recipe as written, turned out fantastic! My husband and I both really enjoyed them. It was my first time trying Sloppy Joes without using Manwich. I did find it had a little bit of a sweeter taste than Manwich though - while it was great I think next time I might leave out the brown sugar and try some yummy bbq sauce instead as some other suggested.(wanted to make the "real" recipe first and then try some experimenting) We will definitely be making these again!!
