My mom taught me how to bake when I was 8 years old - my first project was a chocolate cake. I'm now 31 years old and spending an evening in the kitchen cooking dinner and baking cookies is definitely one of my favorite pass times!
My favorite things to cook
roast chicken with home made stuffing and real lemon slices placed between the skins and the meat. This dish is done with mini potatos and pearl onions tossed with herbs and olive oil, all baked in the same dish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
wearing the apron that my mom gave me when I was 18... its old, stained, torn and and very faded, but its necessary in my kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I wrote my own whole wheat and flax seed waffle recipe. I use it often and will make a large batch for the freezer. The squares toast up nice in the toaster too. I also made the perfect orange chiffon cake once, with a really beautiful whipped orange marmalade icing - it was so fantastic I've never attempted it again in case I ruin the memory :D
My cooking tragedies
Yorkshire pudding. It sticks to my muffin pan everytime... greased, not greased, broth, no broth... what gives? Why cant I make it work??
