Salmon Tartlets
Fig and Lemon Chicken
About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Bread (especially sourdough), Greek food, dessert (all kinds!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandfather was born in Greece and my family (though not Greek Orthodox) has adopted some of the customs. My favorite are Tsoureki at Easter and Christopsomo at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Esther Bolick's Orange Marmalade Cake (from the Mitford series by Jan Karon)
My cooking tragedies
I've only had about a 50% success rate with baklava. That darn syrup never comes out just right. My main culinary failing is pie crust. I've had too many disasters to even want to try new recipes and perfect my pie crust technique. I'll stick to other desserts!

Fig and Lemon Chicken
For reasons unknown even to myself, I had a bag of dried figs in my pantry. This recipe sounded tasty, so I tried it out. I substituted honey for the brown sugar, used apple cider vinegar, and boneless skinless chicken breasts rather than thighs. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Irish Cream Truffle Fudge
Delicious! I took this to a St. Patrick's Day party because it seemed like the thing to do. It was very well received.

Salmon Tartlets
I agree with the assessment that the filling is twice as much as necessary. Either double the dough or halve the filling. They turned out great and were a big hit at the baby shower to which I brought them.
