About this Cook
My name is Jackie and I am probably one of the youngest chefs on the site; only 14. I'm a bit odd in that although I love to bake desserts, I rarely like to eat any sweets. I don't like the taste of sugary or oily foods, which makes me a rather picky eater. I never eat candy or junk food. I do, however, love almost all fruits and vegetables.
My favorite things to cook
My three favorite foods to make are cookies, bars, and muffins. I'm also interested in vegetarian and vegan cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I made a wonderful pound cake with a maple walnut glaze for a girl scout meeting. It looked beautiful with chopped walnuts sprinkled over the top and glaze dripping down the sides. My friends all loved it and told me it was fantastic. My troop leader, who doesn't like maple or walnuts even enjoyed it. It went faster than the s'mores!
My cooking tragedies
I had a horrible time making fortune cookie. The batter was impossible to roll out thin enough, the cookies impossible to fold with tearing, and to top it all off I burnt them a bit! I only made 6 of the cookies into actual fortune cookies. After over an hour and a half of folding, tearing, and starting over, I simply made the rest of the dough into little patties and baked them. I was told they still tasted good however, and they disappeared quickly between my mother and two sisters.

Whole Wheat Maple Quick Bread
Absolutely amazing. Moist and flavorful. Delicoius warm. I made a few changes though: 1. Upped the milk to 1/2 a cup 2. Used splenda instead of syrup 3. Baked for 40 minutes, the last 10 foil covered. 4. Doubled the cinnamon, left out the nutmeg. This is some of the best bread I've had in a long time. I'm eating my second slice now.

Bannock II
Very sticky dough. My sister made this (and to be fair, she can't bake at all) but they definitely weren't what I thought they would be. Not worth the 4 and a half stars they had. It also tasted way too much like baking soda.

Pecan Pie Muffins
I made 12 full size muffins from this recipe. I greased and floured the pans VERY well and they still stuck. My sister and my mother did enjoy them though. I may try to make them again, but probably not any time soon.
