About this Cook
I'm a health conscious college student who believes that really good food, or lack thereof, can make or break one's day. I'm not afraid to use butter and cream, I go for using natural ingredients sparingly rather than sacrificing taste and integrity for the sake of a few calories.
My favorite things to cook
I love to twist comfort foods into something a little more gourmet and special.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Instead of stuffing the turkey at Thanksgiving, which dries it out, my family makes stuffing balls. As you'd imagine, they're just like large meatballs but made of stuffing. It started out as a convenient hand food for all the toddlers and kids, but now we're all grown up and it's still not Thanksgiving without the stuffing balls!
My cooking triumphs
Some friends and I won a cooking contest creating a 3 course meal for 300 people. My favorite part was that everything we made was so simple, we just used really good, fresh ingredients.
My cooking tragedies
My mom used to make rhubarb bread every year and the first year that she let me make a batch myself, I completely misunderstood the directions for the use of sour milk, and somehow ended up adding just tons of vinegar to the batter. I ruined a triple batch. I'm glad she tasted it before we bothered baking all of it.

Country Apple Dumplings
Holy cow, amazing! followed the recipe exactly, wouldn't change anything.

Pie Crust IV
I've used this pie crust many times for many recipes. I like it best with butter flavored shortening, and celery salt for a savory pie, or a little nutmeg or cinnamon for a fruit pie. It is fabulous as is. You can't go wrong.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
The best chicken I've ever made. A little easier when you use chicken parts (thighs and breasts) but more impressive with a whole chicken. Super moist, fall off the bone, not too spicy or salty, juuuuust right.
